New Instance Limit in WoW Classic

And it could’ve been fixed by having GMs ban bots and people exploiting pathing. BUT THAT WOULD TAKE MONEY. Blizzard is SO garbage. This WILL NOT fix that. This HURTS people who actually play a lot. This LIMITS their time if doing lots of instances is their goal.

Blizzard is a joke.

The main problem with this thinking to me, is how quickly (slow AF) they reacted to the problem (slow AF).

100% agree. They only care just enough to keep taking that WoW classic money.

This is MFing hilarious, because it’s so true.

People seem to be focused almost solely on the automated gameplay part of this statement and whether or not it will work. It’s clearly stated exploitative gameplay is also the target of this change.

They didn’t itemize each type of targeted exploit, but this change will impact 1% or less of players, and of those, most are likely bots and/or players exploiting - hence the change.

For YEARS now. For YEARS.

I really am very upset by this change; I do not think this directly addresses the issue of botting, and it is very vague what is defined here as “exploitative” gameplay. however it directly affects many real people spending their real time to play this game, for example:

  • I play many alts, in fact I have two accounts for such reason: I leveled two mages simultaneously so that I can powerlevel myself new alts by dungeon running them.
  • With this change, this means effectively I can only plvl myself less than 6 hours a day, which seems like an absurd restriction for a game which I pay two monthly subscriptions compared to, say, a free mobile gatcha game that limits players’ daily playtime by stamina.
  • I play this game mostly as a result of mental health struggles and depression; some days I play 14 hours consecutively. Perhaps these changes were to address players such as myself spending too much time online? This is not noted anywhere in your posting, and I don’t see an ethos that moves to reduce video game addiction per statements given. This feels like a punishment to me, an added shame for playing such long hours.
  • This also affects one of the main components bringing me to this game: end game PVE raiding. I have, effectively, 8 alternate characters, which I enjoy using one of my mages to level thru dungeons. 5 of my characters are max level and on all 5 I attempt to raid- I have gone through real life time sacrifices in order to secure raid slots for all of these characters- MC, BWL, Ony, and ZG. Already, that is overwhelming. To compound the fact that my downtime now cannot be spent running stockades for, say, 4 or 5 hours and still be able to find a pick-up-group for a lvl 60 dungeon thereafter because I might reach a 30 cap the day before, or day of, raid and be UNABLE to use any 5 characters to raid on, is mind boggling.

I really, sincerely implore you to reconsider these changes and find a better solution to locating, punishing, and preventing botters. This ruins my genuine experience of gameplay and feels like a punishment for players like me that follow ToS authentically.

Can I just say this is BS. I pay to play this game and for you to put restrictions like this on us legitmate players. Maybe blizzard should actually do their job and ban, or make a better botting detection.

I really dislike having to come onto the forums to post, but this change seems so bafflingly mistargeted that I’m really not sure what’s actually going on.

It is one thing to come out and say Blizzard dislikes the current trend of instance boosting and farming done by all players (botters and classic enthusiasts alike) but to legitimately post on these forums that part of the goal here is to eliminate automated gameplay (botting) by implementing a cap in how all players can play the game is mind blowing. I very rarely will have to worry about hitting a 30 instance cap, but the players negatively impacted by this pay the same amount of money per month and limiting their gameplay under the flimsy guise of trying to stop botting is ridiculous. If Blizzard’s official stance is that spamming dungeons over and over again, for leveling purposes, or for item farming, is exploitative behavior then come out and say that.

This very much reminds me of arbitrary limits in mobile games where you have to pay additional money to ‘play more’, except many of the people who are impacted by this change have paid ~10 months * 15 dollars a month… $150 to play classic so far via subscriptions.

As someone who actively plays retail and classic every week - I really hate to see how short sighted and stunted the management and decision making in both games has been. I’d rather have botters in the game then ridiculous changes like this.

They don’t give a flying fish about how many hours a day you play, as they went with the original honor system and playing 20 hours/day is just fine by Blizzard. If they cared about players at all, that system would have been changed before we started, as ranking can be seriously unhealthy. But they are in no way attempting to slow down long play sessions. They’re only interested in screwing legit players out of PvE play time, as the change does nothing but speedbump the bots for less than a week.

Coming from a player that can do more than 30 (non automated) dungeon clears a day, this seems like a pretty bad change. Everyone here pays $15+ a month so telling players that they are limited on how much they can play per day doesn’t seem fair.

So I have a few questions just to basically understand how this change will affect me.

1.) It seems like this instance cap is a combined total of all character’s on your account:

  • Is this per realm?
  • Does this affect characters on a different Account but same battlenet account (Example: i have 5 Warcraft accounts on 1 battle.net account)?

2.) Is there any way to separate dungeon and raid instance caps?
(It would really suck if you ran 30 dungeons on alts and then were not able to get into raid later that night.)

3.) Is there a reset time each day for instance caps like raids reset or honor resets? (Example: Instance cap resets every day at 8am?) Or is it 24hours after you complete your first dungeon?

All-in-all, I wish Blizzard would have found a better way to break down bots. Most people botting as i read ahead are using stolen accounts which probably means they have multiple accounts at their disposal. This really hurts the legitimate players more than anything. Is there not a way to track multiple accounts being accessed by specific IPs and then watching them to make sure they are not all using the same scripted movement? I Know WoW Classic probably has less resources than retail, but i think there is probably a better way to fix this issue than limiting paying customers on how they can play the game.

2.4K comments on this; and nearly 75%-80%(just a really rough estimate) telling you this change is complete and utter garbage.
Wake up “Blizavision” and undo this mistake of a “fix”.

We always kept going until we receive the error message about too many instances. Just like we did before.

And if someone isn’t working out an add-on for this, they are missing out. If I knew how to code it, I would do an instance timer.

You disgust me to no end Blizzard. I used to love you and shout your praises from the rooftops. Now all I see is the disgustingly pernicious corruption that oozes down from the vile hearts of your CEOs. The soulless worms who bought out all of the talent. You are no longer the same company that once captivated my heart. You are devoid of anything good and just. You are nothing more than a spoiled child rolling around in the Everest of money that was earned through our good will. You are draining every drop of blood from the rotting noble steed that this company was once founded upon. Back when this company still had integrity and respect for it’s players, it was an honor and a passion to support your projects. Now I revile them and despise everything you stand for. Another classic case of “!WARNING! FUN DETECTED!” You care nothing about your fans or player base, only about how you can manipulate and squeeze every penny out of us that you can. You disgust me to no end. I would pray for you but I know you are past redemption. I can only hope for a swift death to this company that something better may be born from the ashes. I pray for a day when the corporate lies and greed die. I pray for a resurgence of genuinely good games. I pray for a company that actually cares about the products they make or the community they serve. I must have terminal brain damage to keep coming back to this hollow game that stole my childhood. $15/month in this day and age just to be scolded for playing the way we want to. Fine, vermin, leeches, take my money and CHOKE on it!

Such a lazy solution to botting

but it’s extremely vague in what that means is the problem.
Blizzard couldn’t just come out and say whatever it is they are so against?

Forum goers are the minority of players. The 75%-80% you speak of is the vocal minority of that minority. I hope this provides better perspective. This change directly impacts less than 1% of players (my assumption). Not suggesting they’re good changes or bad, just the impact of them.
