I doubt it.
I would not like a pixelated junk show.
After looking at say Smash Bros it is entirely possibly to keep the Aesthetic and make it look good on modern hardware. I would hope for that.
There is a graphics toggle so its not a big deal to anyone rational. The forums ALWAYS have overly dramatic people who make it like its the end of the world, its not.
I’m baggin’ for someone explain my why, in Elune’s name if vanilla wow have a toggle button that change the models/graphics to the new one on the Vanilla server would not be Classic.
That’s make ZERO sense, the old graphics aren’t bad, but they are dated, and I would be cool if the new one was an option.
The argument “Then wouldn’t be Vanilla bro” is so stupid, Vanilla is gone, and can never me emulated again. What else do you want? Blizzard to restrict the bandwidth so everyone have a trash internet? Because that’s what was like in vanilla! Do you want a feature that makes tanks have do face the ground in a boss battle so they can have playable FPS? Because that’s affect gameplay and was a thing in vanilla. Get rid of all those databases and leave only Thottbot?
The new graphics can lure a lot of new players to play the game, that might be turn away about the fact that the game looks so old.
You guys are crazy, and will play vanilla with a warrior, get lvl 30, then quit and go back to retail and CRY about godsknowwhat in the forum, making a shtshow about everything.
And downvote the sht out of this post, but I will be in stv ganking you.
Graphics are fine. Do what you want with those so long as there is still a classic setting and it in no way gives someone an advantage.
Models though? They tried a model toggle and it did not work. It was buggy.
So if you want a model toggle then old models have to be standard and new models get to deal with the issues.
By the way I gotta ask, if graphics are going to make or break someone’s experience, how interested were they in the first place?
Seriously most your modern wow players are going to hate it the second they realize they can level faster from 1 to 120 in retail faster then you can level from 1 to 60 in vanilla.
Or the moment they realize they can’t faceroll a dungeon.
Or when they realize they can’t solo 2 mobs, let alone an elite.
Thanks for that video. I’m gonna share that one out to my friends.

You either get it, or you don’t. To you, graphics has absolutely nothing to do with the Vanilla game, what you experienced while playing the game had little to do with visuals, for you the original graphics are not an important aspect of the game. To us, original graphics had a lot to do with the total experience, it set the atmosphere and was an important aspect of the game.
How do you expect anyone to convince you, that the original graphics are important to you? We can’t, they aren’t important to you.
The ultimate deciding factor should be, to keep classic as close to Vanilla as possible, which includes the original graphics. The reason for this, is that is the goal of classic.
By the way I gotta ask, if graphics are going to make or break someone’s experience, how interested were they in the first place?

But is classic being made for the new wow players or it it being made for people who have already done it?

i’d assume that it was obvious it was being made for the people who have spent the last 10+ years asking for it. which would largely be the old crowd.
Save your changes suggestions for the remaster version in a few years.

Right but why do graphics updates have anything to do with game mechanics.
Keep in mind I don’t really want the new models, I just want things to look good on a modern system.

well for example lets take the water upgrade - it wasn’t common but people used to hide in the water because no one would look in it because there wasn’t much to see. now its easy to see in and people don’t hide in it all that much.
but largely it wouldn’t change much if anything.
and i still stand by old models being the standard and new models getting to deal with all the fun issues.

Has BLizzard ever mentioned a toggle for classic? And is there currently a working toggle for models in retail?
It’s like if there isn’t a toggle in classic people will think it’s because the players didn’t want it, when it probably wasn’t even on the table.

The water upgrade is a separate issue.
At the end of the day does the game look good on my system?

<3 Hydrocane, it was a nice companion all the way through Wrath. Took more than a few /afk breaks underwater with the thing.

graphics should never matter as much as gameplay. a game could have crap graphics but if the gameplay is good who cares.
like i still play age of empires 2 to this day. is it because the graphics are good? hell no.

so you were that mage who kept using pyro on me from the water!

At some point graphics do affect gameplay though. And once again all I’m asking for is that the game looks like it did 12 years on my system today.
the thing is, you and 90% of people that will reply this post did not play vanilla. Bad internet and terrible FPS CHANGE the gameplay BIG TIME. because that was a thing and you need to get around that back then.
I did not have bad internet when I played Vanilla. Why should I have bad internet now?
It’s like if there isn’t a toggle in classic people will think it’s because the players didn’t want it, when it probably wasn’t even on the table.
It is not entitled to be “on the table”. What has been asked for is as close to vanilla as orcishly possible. If there isn’t a toggle in classic people will be RIGHT in thinking it is because vanilla did not have a graphics toggle to alternate graphics.
I would much rather spend the human resources on developing aspects of the game like the old version of AV rather than to appease modern wow players so their character looks prettier.

except the vanilla graphics aren’t that bad that they have an effect on your gameplay.
