New Gill'el in-game pet

According to wowhead, there was a new pet released in wow, it’s tied to some sort of limited run promotion. Search either the “official blizzard gear” store, or on wowhead, but it’s not available on the actual in-game store, nor is it posted on warcraft pets.

The pet is Gill’el, and it only had 750 units available for purchase. (according to wowhead) According to the store’s chat, the rep said the item is sold out, and there is no restock happening.

There are 7+ million subscribers to wow, and for there to be an unannounced, limited to 750 pet, this is crazy. It likely sold out in moments!

It’s now being listed on sites like eBay, for $200+.

I understand there are limited run things, but usually they are for things in the thousands, or for specific length of time. Such a small run, feels more intentional, and not something that players would want. Why is this a thing, and how can we stop this from happening in the future?

I feel, the issue is that there was 1) such a severely limited quantity. They are all sold out, and they are not restocking the item.

I don’t care about the physical item, but I want the in-game pet. It’s not like it lasted weeks/months. It was gone in hours/days.

And 2) It was not announced officially as a thing that exists; and add to which, and 3) it was posted and gone while most people were enjoying a holiday with their family.

Probably a good opportunity to stop and understand that you can’t get everything you want, and not take it so seriously.
