Because then people will be identified by their battletag, which you can only have multiple of if you have multiple battle.net accounts.
I imagine it’d look like this:
[Unscrupulous Player] - 70 Night Elf Demon Hunter [insert UP’s battletag here]
-insert hot take that results in other people posting about it here-
[Unscrupulous Player (wearing a mustache)] - 10 Night Elf Hunter [Insert UP’s battletag here]
-insert comment agreeing with UP’s take here, to try and mislead people into thinking there’s more support for it than there is-
[Innocent Player] - 70 Dracthyr Evoker [Insert IP’s battletag here]
“Hey, wait a second, Unscrupulous Player, you’re sockpuppeting!”

The forums is on discourse which has two functions, battle tags or characters.
Battle Tags are more anonymous then characters.
No, bad news again Blizzard is not changing forum companies.
