New forum function - posting anonymously, as Anonymous

First of all, you selectively quoted, please read the bolded text and this in full

Second of all, you telling someone to unsubscribe from life and that someone wanting to block you isn’t having a different opinion, your just sending a real life threat to them and also harassing them.

I dont block people because they have a different opinion, I only block (and report if needed) those who want to send to me death threats and harass me.

That still doesn’t stop someone who has an ability to post anonymously to bring toxicity.

I mean from your OWN words, you said “why exactly you block person? for different opinion? that’s rude.”

Sounds like to me that you are trying to justify a death threat.

Remember, Death threats =/= a different opinion.

Because as demonstrated when the OP took Jaesears’ post and selectively quoted it that she/he just wants to feel safe trolling and being hateful.

I dont see that with you deep down in all honesty.

Requirements don’t matter.

No, people already do that with throwaway level 10 characters, level 55 classic dks and level 58 evokers such as yourself.

In my experience with those and seeing throwaway characters here, they are often times toxic.

It won’t fix or make the forum any better.

Because to put it this way, its a bad idea, it doesn’t help make the forum better in anyway and it makes this site a breeding ground for toxicity and trolls.

You already have the OP trying to justify unsubscribing from life because that anon had a “different opinion.” then Jaesear.

It doesn’t matter if it costs 15$, people will still come here to troll no matter if its free or not.

So what Jaesear experienced on a site where you can post as anon and that anon user told her to unsubscribe from life is a made up story? Also trying to bring a potential downside to this suggestion being made here for the WoW forums?

Thank you for showing us that you want to be a terrible human being as if you already haven’t it showed already to begin with.

Yes you did.

If battle tags are considered “private information”, I want ask you something.

How do you feel that Plunderstorm is using your battle tag name thats if you have played it?

Also Rankin isn’t trolling, we have been telling you since you were on Taienna when the btag thread wasn’t locked that battle tag name portions have always been public information and will be displayed regardless how you feel about it not being out there.

The amount of downplaying from your side is a big yikes for me dawg.

Because that’s what happens when the general population is in charge of holding others accountable. It leads to mob rule, bullying, and exclusion.

That’s precisely why Blizzard themselves deal with holding others accountable. Any plans that you have to hold someone “accountable” via their btag would be a violation of the CoC and frankly would be terrifying.

Oh noes, some trolls would be completely muted instead of being able to alt hop like they can now. The horror!

What’s to stop that from happening already? It just takes slightly more effort. Your slippery slope fallacy needs to be folded up and put back into storage.

We don’t think that everybody who disagrees with us is a troll, but people who use that argument in favor of being able to avoid being ignored are very much suspect in their motives.

Man, that’s some nice fearmongering. Try again with a real argument.

If Blizzard can track account wide suspensions, they likely have other data that indicates exactly that occurring through the quality of data or feedback they collect off these forums.

They introduce something like account wide ignores into the mix and that data is disrupted.

It’s literally just someone ignoring you bro

It’s not that serious

Do you have a reply to the points raised or do you just call anything you dislike “fear mongering”?

You can do this without having access to someone’s btag.

If someone gets banned from the forums, they’d be banned on all of their characters anyway because it’s already be account-wide.

You don’t represent the majority of the forum either.

So that argument is valid.

I’m not going to give a serious response to someone who thinks there’s a secret cabal of users who want to control the forums.

I don’t recall asking for btags

This thread is about 0 identifiers about posters, so people will feel even more bold to be increasingly toxic

Noted, so there is no reason to continue further with you.

The conversation that I was partaking in is about Btags.

You said you, while responding to me though

Unless someone hops onto a different character and continues to harass you. You have to ignore each character individually as opposed to just blocking them once. And considering you can make a character, get ignored, delete that character, make a new character and continue to troll and harass while pretending to be a different person…

Hm, I wonder why we need btags.

Because you replied to me, someone who was having a conversation about Btags.

You can account wide ignore people in the game without having access to their btags. It can work like that on the forums. We don’t need btags for it.

Nothing I said was hostile, I’m just clarifying the conversation for you.

The whole point is that people can character hop and pretend to be different people. With battletags under their name, they can’t do that because everyone will know it’s the same person rather than two different people.

This thread is proof of that.

Accountability is a two-way street. BTags isn’t about having players becoming Judge Dredd on the forums. Blizzard will still handle the punishments.

Thing is, the forums don’t have an account-wide ignore like the game does, so if they added account-wide ignore, visible BTags won’t be required. That’s more or less the focus of the entire anonymous vs btag argument, being able to properly ignore people who would be doing wrong, has nothing to do with reporting or applying bans or suspensions.
