Make a character named anon or some varent of on classic and bam. Anon character for posting.

Or to identify basic patterns, like knowing who itās not worth engaging with.
People donāt need to go to third party sites if someone is posting with a character whoās guilded with their alts, though.

No they arenāt. Blizzard can take them or anything they have away at any time they so choose and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. They can remove anything youāve collected, take away any title you have earned, remove any in game currencyā¦ you have zero standing on any of it. It is ALL their intellectual property.

Iām glad that Blizzard designed the battle tag system as a publicly available tag (which is already public in-game, so itās no secret) specifically for us to use as a measure to increase the security of our account.
Since itās already public, the whole idea that theyāre currently not available is just a flawed and inaccurate thought. Anyone can currently get your battle tag and it doesnāt matter as they really canāt do anything with it anyway.
As I said yesterday, Iām so glad that Blizzard has no interest in moving to an anonymous system like the OP wants. Itās just a terrible idea that should never have made it past 10 posts to be honest.
