New expansion alpha, new Customization Suggestions!

So, new expansion in alpha, it’s time to post an updated list of demands suggestions!

Come on, Blizzard, even when we got the major revamp in Shadowlands some races were just left waiting. Most allied races are still barebones, and even some core races need love.

I really like that nowadays every patch adds some customization. I’d love to see a bit more per patch than the now-standard “4 new X colors for one race” (earlier patches had two races beneffited, or one race getting more than one customization category improved).

Bellow are my suggestions. I avoided generic things like “more hair colors” or “more skin colors”, unless there’s some color that I feel is really missing.

Also, this is just what I can think of. I have little idea on what to add to gnomes and pandaren, for instance. So, everyone feel free to comment or add whatever demands suggestions you feel fit.

All races

  • Split “Face” option into two: “Face” and “Expression”. Currently, faces are defined by a combo of texture and facial bones. The new “Face” option selects the texture of the face, while the “Expression” option sets the facial bones. That way you can mix and match both to find new combos.

For an in-game example: If you go to void/blood/night elves and select the “Dark Ranger” skin, it has a single face texture that does not change. The “Face” setting just changes the bones, as the new “Expression” setting would be.

There are a few races, like Pandaren, Worgen or Vulpera, that do not have facial bones. It would be nice to add a few “Expression” options for them.

I’m feeling left out

Should be:

  • blue flames
  • green flames
  • red flames
  • blue no flames
  • green no flames
  • red no flames

Not sure where white or black come into play. Or purple, as that’s Void.

All races should have tattoos as an addition. And scars.

Also female Dwarf beards.

Why this one?

No.

Stopped reading there. I’m out.

Like I said, I don’t have ideas for every race, but feel free to suggest things you’d like to have.

Male Nightborne

  • Modify their body to be more proportionate, look well in player armor, and still retain their graceful, lithe image
  • Add youthful face options that are not angry and snarling
  • Lower hairlines for most hairstyles

Female Nightborne

  • Lower hairlines for most hairstyles
  • Youthful face options
  • Adjust how shoulder pieces anchor to the body, as they currently float way above the female Nightborne’s shoulders

Both

  • Add the arcane hair effects that NPCs have

I complain about the shortcomings of the Nightborne model and their customizations here:

KUL TIRAN … Skinny/Thin models W H E N

I just took the same colors available for Undead, plus the black for a “eyeless with smoke” effect.

Variety. Pink can mean arcane magic, for Shen’dralar/mages, and purple is also a color heavily used by night elves. It’s in their forests, in their tabard, often in their gears. Nightborne have it and it looks good.

Wow, someone who is against having options. Don’t let the door hit you as you leave.

Is there a big desire for that from the community?

I feel like the scrawny Kul Tiran models would look bad in armor, much in the same way male Nightborne look bad due to their lanky proportions.

I’d love that but since it’s an entire second model, I feel it’s really unlikely for Blizzard to add it as an option. It also lacks a female version.

BUT, on the other hand, with Kul Tirans having so little options, maybe it would be a good idea to port the current options to the skinny model and add it.

Some people always wanted that. I feel it’s for variety, there are body types that just work well with some concepts, like making a skinny spellcaster or rogue type.

If im not mistaken, they are modeled after undead, maybe even the coveted upright undead models everyone wants

They are made from the female undead model, which is why they are not so hunched.

Really; they need to give Kul Tirans some of those painted for the gods faces like Lady Ashvane so I can be the proud, Kul Tiran woman I was meant to be.

Dracthyr suggestion: ultra-buff.

This is the kind of suggestion that is cool but I never think of. Maybe an option for makeup could partially cover it?

Been asking for skinny kt for years btw.

Also, update human hair textures, most haircuts still use playstation 2 era graphics, maybe ps1. Also, separate scars from face models, this happens in nelf and human, a certain face only exists with a scar instead of the scar being just an option.

Body sliders are a tricky one, it makes sense for warrior like classes like paladin or warrior to be buff but priests or mages? Not so much.

Are we just asking for customization options or making suggestions for the game?

Here’s two quick suggestions for the Darkmoon Faire.

  1. Dancing around the stage of the Elite Tauren Chieftains when they’re live will give a player buff. The timer will increase the longer you dance around the stage, just like the carousel. This would encourage people to gather in one spot and dance, which is fine, but more importantly it would encourage people to listen to the Elite Tauren Chieftains.

  2. There’s a petting zoo at the Faire grounds… I’d like a random (ish) event where they break free from their enclosure and cause havoc and it’s our job to capture and defeat them, rewarding tickets or … what ever.

As for character customization ~

Forsaken

The usual requests for posture toggles and a human-undead option, like Nathanos.

Also, more horror themed customization options, such as skeletal options, wounds, scars…

I wouldn’t mind if Blizzard leaned into body horror options like what we’d see on a Cenobite from Hellraiser. Give us head spikes, torn flesh, hooks in flesh, all that fun stuff.

Lean into the sci-fi theme of the Gnomes. That’s a big part of their identity and it should be played up.

I know Mechagnomes kinda do the same thing, but that shouldn’t stop the devs from giving regular Gnomes more Sci-fi options.

I wouldn’t ask for more customization options. I think what players should be asking for is an overhaul to Pandarens, but that’s just my opinion.

Warlock

I’d like a glyph to change Burning Rush.

The glyph would make it so the Warlock, when activating Burning Rush, sprout temporary demonic wings and levitate off of the ground slightly. Functionally the spell would be exactly the same, the wings and levitation would just be a visual effect, you wouldn’t be flying or floating, you’d just look very cool.

Give it another 3 or 4 years and Blizz may give use a few more hair colors.

Meanwhile, here’s another race most players don’t care about.

Yeah, except for the nightborne/highmountain/lightforged improvement patch mid-Shadowlands, we haven’t had big customization overhauls since. Mostly of what we got were just a few new texture additions, like hair or eye colors.

Still, these things keep adding up. I based my list in this thread on a previous one, and I was surprised by how much of that old one we ended up getting (things like request skin, hair and eye colors for certain races, or the blind eye options). I just hope Blizzard does more in each patch than “4 new hair colors for 1 race”.

If you mean the super skinny male model that uses the undead rig, sure I’d be ok with that.

If you mean just adding the standard storm wind human model to KT then that’s a hard NO.

A crumb of new customization content is all I ask. :sob: Even just a single fur color or pattern.
