I got this whisper in-game just as I zoned into Valdrakken. Seems someone is looking to find a date, lol.

I thought this might be a troll but then I noticed they seemed pretty persistent in trade chat. Is this a troll or new dating strategy? I’ve never really seen this before. I’ve heard of stuff like this in RP servers but not on mine. Also, how could they whisper me so quickly? Is there an addon for that?
I dated someone from WoW before. But not intentionally. Looking for a date purposely in WoW seems like the wrong place. Now if you and someone meet, start chatting etc and things lead that direction, that’s entirely different.
In my case, I dated my raid leader after he was my raid leader/we were friends and talked a lot for several years first.
Why would you just send that to random people, though? It’s like the dude on FB who sends a group message to all his girl friends. I have to know how many people got that message, lol.
I guess it’s not much different than messaging all your matches on Tinder or something in reality, but whatever, it’s weird. I had a relationship with my class lead in EQ for a while, but he incidentally lived very close to me and we had known each other for years beforehand. It happens, but not from some random whisper.
I met my ex thru my guild. We were extremely close, we actually were guild officers/best friends before our old GM left and gave us the guild since he got stressed out running two guilds at once. We got together after my ex became the GM. But in regards to relationships, I’ll say you can make a relationship work if you both commit to the relationship and get to know each other deeply beforehand. And also, trust is a big one too. Since most relationships that are formed on WoW are long distance, gaining your partner’s trust and thus keeping it can be an issue. I’ve seen one of my friends relationships fall apart and the aftermath was a disaster. not to be negative here but some relationships do work, some don’t. And you’ll find the right one.
It’s actually not any worse than what you get in bars and clubs, though I’ve never gotten “Are you really a girl?” yet. That would probably be my last time going to a club.
I was about to say this. I think just straight up offering gold for a date is actually less scummy than most bar/club or dating app method. This person is probably just young and confused about how to approach it.
Some person out there is happily married to a beautiful kind partner for having done something dumb like this. I’m not saying it’s a common occurrence but this dude might be on an airplane finding the love of his life.
