That and I would actually like the Light motif for Blood Elves to grow as well as the dark themes making a comeback, be it crazy Light tendrils or just Gold colored Runic Tattoos, but when you see all the stuff other races are getting piled on I figured why not go crazy with it?
I’m pretty sure asking for Paladins is a light theme.
And there is literally no such thing as “Goth” Blood elves, and yet you have no problem accepting that as a possibility over Ranger tattoos.
Because it’s their central theme? It’s the same reason this new wave of customization options for Night elves centered heavily on nature themes, with the darker themes like burns being restricted to a few minor options.
Imagine how the night elf players would feel if all they got were scars, and burns, and other grisly options that strayed from the theme of their race.
But you really did, it revolved the image of Lady Liadrin with gold eyes, and how Blizzard used that art at Blizzcon. People were wondering if that could possibly apply to players, and you popped into the thread and started telling people it was fanfiction, and not going to happen.
Like why did it bother you that Blood elves got gold eyes? Like, with a Sunwell composed of light, and an image of Lady Liadrin with gold eyes, why was that something you felt the need to bombard threads, and tell people it wasn’t going to happen. I can’t wrap my head around that.
Except when you imply these themes apply to the Blood elves themselves, and not just the subraces they’re meant to reflect. Like if you’re using them as an excuse to justify their inclusion, then I don’t see why you’re trying to also imply they’re thematically appropriate for Blood elves as well - despite the fact that you would have no grounds to suggest them if those two subraces didn’t exist in the first place.
Could you toss me a link?
Color me impressed, didn’t think you had it in you, although I see you still couldn’t resist opportunity to add in more corrupted themes as well, but I’ll toss you a bone and assume it wasn’t intentional.
Sorry, correction, there’s no such thing as goth blood elves.
Goth definitely comes with a hella lot more connotations than jewelry, heck even another helfer was surprised at your choice of the word “goth” to describe those options. I guess I don’t associate those themes exclusively as goth, at least not so much as to describe them that way.
Generally when you ask someone what’s the first thing they think of when you say goth, it’s generally “Dark” not noserings and chokers.
Right, yes, goths in a society that worships the Sun, makes perfect sense.
Honestly, if this customization means High elves, it means both sides got High elves, though until it’s actually confirmed they’re just blood elf skin tones for Void elves. Blizzard had no problem referring to the options like the tattoos for dwarves as “Wildhammer” and the options for Trolls as “Sand trolls” but deliberately avoided referring to these customizations as “High elf” options.
It’s weird that some helfers will only be happy unless they can say only they have High elves, which is always amusing to me.
You’re really missing the point here, there’s nothing arguing that they wouldn’t have them, especially since we saw generic rangers with them in Warcraft. Adding them would not break lore, they do not need some huge leap to rationalize or justify either, especially not nearly as much as the idea of Void elf Paladins.
Except her appearance represents the Farstriders, and since she’s the most recent Farstrider model it can be easily reasoned that they’re ranger marks much like the ones we saw in previous installations.
It makes so little sense for Blood elf magisters to ever get Farstrider tattoos when they’ve spent their whole lives fighting and despising the Farstrider ways but I’m not going to invade customization threads and tell void elf players they can’t have them. Some serious insecurity.
Which were incredibly lazy, and took no effort or time to make or implement, and had everyone who datamined it shaking their heads. This idea that “pretty” themes have had their run because of a few lazy necklaces and bracelets is a pretty weak one.
Birds bodies are literally built around their wings. Sticking to wings on a humans back would be hell. Even if you could fold them, sleeping would be the same at all, and it’d probably be super painful. And how would you even sit with a pair of wings? You’d have to, like, fold them or something.
I don’t think it’d be consistent with all the other stuff WoW has going on in it, especially when character customization options are supposed to be a reflection on the race’s part in WoW’s universe.
Like everybody had their turn regarding the Alleria tatoos, I think I’ll put on my two cents: only after getting the TBC box art ones. Knowing Blizzard usual err “limitations”, they either implement one or the other.
And I rather get something NOT related to the airheaded void junkie who’s not even part of the race tyvm.
And please, no wings. Those are a perma reminder on the worst villain batting in the lore history (Kael’thas, nuff said) and frankly would demand a complete reconstruction on the freaking model we would only get that, so no.
Void Paladins or Disc Priest like Paladins. Or as part of a Subrace Selection System that lets you play Specifically Wildhammer Sand/Dark Trolls/High Elves and the like.
At this point it’s clear you didn’t read what was said and are just freaking out over the word “Goth” despite it clearly being used to describe jewelry options.
And we have DKs/DHs/Warlocks so… yeah…
“Pretty” is not their main theme…
It didn’t. There was just no lore precedent that supported it. The lore actually being against it at the time.
It was looking like it was going to be an NPC option with it only being 2 faces and Bronze Dragons popping up in the data files.
It was only ever clarified in the Q&A that it was a Light User specific thing.
That’s your problem.
This is becoming more and more clear that you are just against people having darker options at all even if they don’t affect you in the slightest.
No wonder you freaked out at the word “Goth”.
Except for Dark Rangers, San’layn, Death Knights, Demon Hunters.
That’s because you didn’t wait for my reply to him and wanted to jump on another opportunity to gripe.
I would definitely consider Chokers and Nose/Eyebrow Rings to be more “Gothlike” options.
And is there a problem with people wanting to dress their characters is a darker fashion?
Are you going to demand the remove of dark mogs and black hair? lol
The fact that these would exist as options in addition to the other things and not a replacement means that literally nothing is hurting the other options.
You just seem offended that the option should exist.
WC2, the actual game, is not in the same continuity as modern WoW.
Things where written and changed. The High/Blood Elf design/themes changed.
High Elves didn’t have druids. They had magic instead of just Human Wizards. They don’t live in celtic longhouse themed lumbermills.
No. It represents her.
It is literally just specific to her. Could they retcon that? Sure.
Buy why would Blizzard take something specific from an enemy faction leader for Blood Elves? And why would the get it over Void Elves or in addition?
Especially when they have their own themes to draw from that haven’t even been touched yet. Like Runes/Scars/Dark Rangers/San’layn.
I don’t think you want to see my unedited list but here.
Dark Ranger Skin and Red Eye options and San’layn Fang/Claw/Bat-like Ear options. (San’layn options could be done through a Night Warrior type quest in Revendreth) [Clarify San’layn more] [Dark Ranger Eyes and Skin are separate options]
Magical Rune Tattoos like the TBC Boxart in Green/Gold/Blue/Red/Faded. (Same as Eye Colors) [Focus on variety and potential glow] [Call it scarification?][Rune Examples]
Black/Rose Gold Jewelry options with Choker and Nose/Eyebrow Ring options. And Jewelry for both genders. [Find Specific Style Examples] [Maybe just state more color options][Clarify for all genders]
Strawberry Blond Hair Color and Nightborne/Void Elf Styled Haircuts along with Wizard Beards! [Work in Fades] [Work in braids] [Clarify listings][Dreads/Afro]
Scar and Damaged Ear options. [Potential Bat Ear Suggestion] [Seperate from scars?]
Void Elf Additions/Improvements
Lore showing that High Elves and Void Elves are merging. (Potentially by having Alleria’s troops from Outland follow her or having Void Elves join with the Silver Covenant)[Clean up lore examples][Cut SC?]
White/Blond/Brown Hair Colors and a toggle for tentacles like Night Elf Vines. [Consider Red] [Tie Tentacles for EE?]
The option to hide/customize Entropic Embrace appearance. [Corruption Slider?]
Not really the point? You asking for a theme you just said you found boring, and uninspired simply because it’s going to the other race.
Except my reaction was one shared by others, perhaps try using the word jewelry instead?
They are literally described as the “pretty race” of the horde by blizzard devs all the time. Making them look gristled, and haunted isn’t exactly in line with that.
But I mean, it did. The sunwell itself was the argument many people presented, a reasonable one at that. It just doesn’t seem like such an unlikely thing that you would feel the obligation to tell people “No” when it was clearly a possibility.
It’s just strange that you seem to have such an open mind for some concepts, and yet shut off others completely, which seem to always coincidentally involve things you want for another race.
Don’t see how it’s a problem that you finally decided to relent from this strict idea you want for Blood elves. I’m genuinely impressed, good for you.
I guess you can’t take a joke.
Which are undead… and not really a part of their society. Heck the Death Knight players even fight Lady Liadrin themselves. No standard Blood elf is a goth, and if they are it’s typically a sign that they are not welcome by Blood elves - void elves being a good example of this.
Of course not, just as there’s no problem for a rogue, or warrior blood elf to have gold eyes despite the fact hat canonically only priests and paladins have them - but let’s not pretend that these customizations have any implications on the races themselves.
I don’t mind that the option exists, but I do mind people assuming to speak for what blood elf players want, especially when it’s clear they have an agenda. It could be mere coincidence that your lists for blood elves consist almost exclusively to dark, and corrupted themes, but I really doubt it.
There’s nothing to say that any of those rangers don’t still exist within Quel’thalas today, and if they were added this would immediately be acknowledged, and rationalized. There would no blaring lore contradictions, or any evidence that stands in it’s way, and if you’re willing to accept the leap in logic for void paladins, you should really have no problem making the leap for ranger tattoos on farstriders.
Clearly this viewpoint is just another coincidence though, it has nothing to do with the fact that you want them on void elves. lol
But there’s nothing that says it only suggests her, merely that Blizzard didn’t feel like adding tattoos to npcs, and considering the simplisity of NPC Farstrider outfits, I think it’s safe to say they’re not actually running around in those starter pieces. Even in the Sylvanas warbringers we see them in far more realistic, and rangeresque gear.
For the same reason they made her a Farstrider ( A blood elf group ) in the first place? The void elf players are not supposed to resemble Alleria, they’re supposed to resemble Umbric. They’re magister Blood elves, not High elves.
