And I still think it would not be Eonar, since they are a Titan, completely seperate from both Light and Life on the cosmology chart.
Exactly, because as Chronicles cites, the Titans themselves were “impervious to Void corruption”, but since Azeroth being in her most vulnerable state a titan can be, meant she’s indeed corruptible, thus would’ve ended up being an avatar of the void lords that rivals if not overpowers the pantheon.
Eonar the Life-Binder is the [titan] patron of all [life] and [nature]
in lovecraft’s universe, the entity that is azeroth’s inspiration is in fact, the oldest and most powerful old god. kinda scary. are the writers gonna make azeroth’s world soul a dark titan? holey rusted metal, batman.
Im under the assumption that they can be the patron of all life and nature under the influence of Order. Since again, the Titans are under there own sphere if we take the chart at face value.
k well, i’m not married to the idea. just sharing the only theory ive heard so far, as to who or what is above naaru in the light section
I did not know that, but it does make sense when Chronicles also confirms that Azeroth (once awakened) is stronger and more powerful than even Sergeras, the former champion of the pantheon.
I have never read H.P.Lovecraft’s books, but I’ve been so fascinated with the theme and genre they’ve created to the point where it became my favorite by far. I love many Lovecraftian inspired games such as Bloodborne and Darkest Dungeon, they’re among my favorite top 10 games of all time. I do hope we go full dark/lovecraftian at one point in the WoW universe, but doubt it.
Edit: Which “old one” was it from Lovecraft’s work that Azeroth was inspired by btw?
Fair enough.
To be honest I’ve never seen any of Pyros vids, so it might make sense but to me, only if we disregard what we know from Chronicles
it might make sense
only if we disregard what we know from Chronicles
Well, we’ve been told that Chronicles is from the Titans perspective, to give blizz the excuse to retcon anything they see fit.
Not out of the realm of possibility.
to give blizz the excuse to retcon anything they see fit
Which they’ve already done with Spirit Healers.
According to Chronicles, they were Val’kyr. But now Blizzard says they’re Kyrians.
tbf I think it’s unlikely the Titans are wrong about the nature of one of the Titans.
I just wanted to say thank you Blizz, I can finally be my Alliance high elf <3
congratulations Jaina! <3

Azathoth
Azathoth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azathoth
, sometimes referred to as the “Blind Idiot God”, is a dreaming monster whose dream is where the universe resides. Azathoth is completely unaware of anything going on in the dream; hence his title. Azathoth also shifts in his slumber, causing reality to change. He is the most powerful entity, according to Lovecraft, closely followed by his grandson Yog-Sothoth, and is the creator and ruler of the Outer Gods.
Quite fascinating. Thanks.
Part of where I think some of the confusion comes from re: Void Lords is that the game has used variations on the terms for creatures in game (mostly in BC) that I think pretty clearly at this point are not intended to be actually taken as what Chronicles is referring to when they talk about Void Lords.
Burning Crusade played fast and loose with demons and Void creatures and was probably all stuff being thrown at a wall long before they’d settled on a lot of the specifics of the cosmology aspect of the universe. That’s not to say that nothing from that point is relevant or canon but cosmology-wise if it came from BC you should probably take it with a grain of salt and be ready for later sources to either clarify it or overwrite it outright.
Void Lords is that the game has used variations on the terms for creatures in game that at this point (mostly in BC) that I think pretty clearly at this point are not intended to be actually taken as what Chronicles is referring to when they talk about Void Lords.
Yes. Demensius, the one referred to as a Void Lord in BC, is referred to simply as a “creature” in Chronicles.
Yup.
A quick Wowhead search also reveals that there’s generic creatures just flat out called "Void Lord"s in Wrath and even Cata. For some reason Blizz just liked naming particularly tough Voidwalkers that for a while. Which makes the naming convention on the cosmic end that much more confusing.
Edit: Even later than that, in Legion they added the “Voidlord” glyph for warlocks. So yeah, that name is just everywhere in WoW for things that aren’t actually THE Void Lords. Makes me wonder why they didn’t go with a different name for them.
