I can’t speak for anyone else and this is also a pointless thought experiment because “trading” for it isn’t something that would feasibly happen. So I dunno how sincere I can come across with this other than just saying it.
Also I guess it baffles me how this doesn’t get read as half elf customization to other people. How do you visually represent that option in game aside from that, barring completely new models?
I don’t really feel like arguing over this, so I guess this is just gonna have to be an “agree to disagree” thing, even though this is never going to stop rubbing me the wrong way.
Honestly… Why can’t Forsaken be paladins? They can use the light, and they were the country that founded the Silver Hand. Blizz really trying to tell me that none of them are devoted enough to endure the pain? Willpower is kinda their jam.
Elemental: “Okay so I see you summoned me but I don’t get why you think I’m going to help you out.”
Belf Shammy: “Have you seen my sweet mog?”
Elemental: “Now that I look closer those are indeed the raddest of threads and you wear them so well! Never in my life have I been exposed to such fabulosity! Point me at your enemies so that I may smite them, you glorious specimen!”
Blood Elf Shamans would make sense if it were done in the same way Paladins/the Light was done, with Blood Elves forcing the elements into submission and bending them to their will.
Unfortunately, Blood Elves aren’t about that life anymore, with their restored Sunwell and all. They have no need of the elements or the powers they confer.
And it is my opinion that would be horrible lore that completely disregards what shamans are and boils them down to elemental mages.
That’s dark shamanism. It uses the energy of Decay instead of Spirit.
It’s not only an entirely different class concept to a standard shaman but the Kalimdor Horde at least views them as the most vile of heretics. Widespread use of dark shamans would have fairly large lore implications.
I could see, however, Blood Elf “Shamans” as “Elementalists” (like the ones in Blackfathom Deeps), much akin to how Tauren “Paladin” were “Sunwalkers”.
Offshoots that have the same abilities, but lorewise are very different.
