That’s dark shamanism, not geomancy.
Besides the fact that dark shamans are considered arch-heretics by regular shamans, shamans and dark shamans are more akin to death knights and paladins than sun druids and paladins.

Saying they’d call themselves Geomancers not that it’s what they would really be.
And again it’s no different than what mages already do. It’d just be specializing.
Or even better.
Blood elf sees shamans begins researching it and eventually by focusing on his specialization learns to summon them to do his bidding, making deals with them to serve.
So different path but same as goblins they make deals. Pacts.
There’s not that much stopping them.
Shamans aren’t elemental mages. A significant number of their spells and a massive part of their lore identity stems from their connection to spirit, the ancestors, the animal and plant spirits and the astral plane.
You can’t just show up one day and learn to be a shaman.
Argue all you like that they could just write it in and say that’s what’s happening. But as someone who is pretty invested in shaman lore that’s a negative lore development imo. Shamans as a class are probably the least understood by Blizzard’s own writers and the last thing I want to see is another example of bad shaman writing.
SoO Dark Shamans say “Hi”.
Absolutely and completely no, man. If Belves someday have to -lorewise speaking- start a path into shamanish, it has to be done under the guidance of actual proper practicioners from the Orc, Troll and Tauren races; not as a weirdo incoherent new “flavor” that´s diametrically opposite to the actual thing.
Belves won´t get shamans simply because they have already most available classes to play + one “exclusive” class.
Oh Ariel, remind me why you and I aren’t best friends.
Because ear lenght wasn´t something actual Horde Belf players wanted from a RP PoV; (players only vouched for ears NOT breaking the helmets, but nothing else). Under such argument, they effectively are “not real theming”, cause Half Elves is NOT a Belf thing whatsoever in the lore, and much more heavily associated with Alliance aligned High Elves.
Cause I play weirdo hours and I´m very short on patience for the usual foolishness in GD forums. We can be friends maybe in another thread or in SF, but not in this one.
I need to achieve something else with this thread.
Draenei basically learned from the Broken. The Spirits didn’t reach out to the Draenei they reached out to the broken.
In either case what I was suggesting was that while in game it’d be called a shaman it wouldn’t actually be one. Like the Sunwalkers are actually druid not paladins.
It’d just work on the same class line.
I can see why someone more involved in the shaman lore would be minorly annoyed by that but it really wouldn’t be actual shamanism. Could even be used to push an interesting bit of story narrative of stress within the Horde.
Cause the Horde needs MORE narrative stress, amrite? It wasn´t enough with a decade+ of erosion regarding their themes and characters, we need even more disastrous writting, sure.
I’ve always been a fan of the more creative versions of classes Blizz has made.
Dinomancers, Sun Druids… Very interesting stories.
After watching the results I think it´s a waste of time and resources ()they all end up homogenized to death under “Alliance inspired FOTM organization”.
I really don´t need to see Belves kneeling and worshipping Malfurion like the Tauren do, tyvm.
Darkspear Shadow Hunters would be a dope Dark Rangwr Analog.
Also, Void Elves have hunters along those lines as well.
Well hopefully we wont have another Legion homogenization issue again. Blizz seems against it anyways.
Why would Belf Shaman kneel to Malfurion?
I´ll believe it when I see it, cause the actual incoming writting actually hints at the opposite.
Horde started as a tale of faulty people looking from redemption and degenerated into “cartoonish villains unless they convert to the church of Human Potential”.
A disgrace.
Druids, comment in regards to druids.
I wouldn´t mind Belves prostrating themselves to Drek´thar though… or to Muln Earthfury. You know, ACTUAL shamans practicioners of shamanism. Now THAT´s a story, how Belves maybe decide to try shamanism for once.
Ah. Honestly it’d be neat to see a falling out of the Cenarion Circle. Have it fall apart a bit with Tauren going one way and Night Elves the other with of course the Worgen following the Night Elves and the Darkspear the Tauren.
Now with the KT’s and the Zandalari, and the HMT being there, both sides could establish their own separate entities.
Imagine if the Allaince entitiy also included Dwarves…
and both added Pandaren.
I think the first subject of this was just having the Belfs learn from one of the other races in the Horde. We were just playing with ideas.
In another thread I asked what classes folk want to see with the current races.
If anyone is interested.
Rogues, too I think.
There’s a few reason that people are asking for dark ranger themes for Blood Elves.
I like you.
That’s exactly what I think. It’s strange to me that they haven’t released yet more BE options. They know BEs are the most popular player race. Blizzard ain’t stupid.
I think they’ll just release all these cool options for belves after all core races to keep the hype alive.
It’s cause Blizz wants to make every other race so appealing by treating blood Elves as a black sheep to force Race changes.
That didn’t work in WoD, it won’t work now.
