Player Agency won’t go as far as to let Blood Elves also be undead “Dark Ranger” Paladins/Priests/Mages, etc. It would be far more damaging to racial cohesiveness than beneficial to customization, aside from putting a snuff on future hopes as Dark Rangers as a class.

Class skins have been suggested a lot too, and personally I’d love to see a system like that. Nelf moon priestess class skin asap please.
But in the interest of discussion, what would a dark ranger hero class offer. How would they differ ability wise from hunters?

i didnt play wc3, just watched videos of highlights. like i saw the fight between arthas and illidan, and saw malfurion stop the spell, but had no idea what the implications were.
one way they could implement it is only let it be available to belf hunters. so if you select hunter, or are already a hunter, then that appearance option is added.
“Better than before” still isn’t what i want. We’re missing hair color, styles, skin tones. The only thing we have at the moment are eye colors. I’m actually NOT getting what i want visually, until my Void Elf can have High Elven colored hair and hair styles that reflect High Elves from Dalaran.
Is it not also eye color, jewelry, skin tone, hair styles, blind eye color options, ear options and more? I’m not complaining either, BE’s deserve some love but i don’t see why you’re making it into this contest when you’re clearly getting more and then some.

The ear slider has been asked for as a ear slider, both from BE fans and NE fans both who are getting it.
I have seen people ask for Half Elves but not in connection with either of the races getting it, so while I get some people see it and go oh I’ve always wanted that for Half Elves. Making people attribute it as something it’s not isnt really it either, it obviously means something different to people who just want to customize ear size then it does to people who would RP as Half Elves.
And again, would you trade the new VE customization options (the skin tone diversity) if you could for the ear slider? Or is it more minor in comparison? And personally I think the ear slider is another thing VEs will also end up getting, as we see it in NEs and BEs already.
How are you listing the skin tones as something you aren’t getting / are missing LOL

It’s not in game or the dressing room…? So, it’s not there yet.
all races with human skin tones are getting skin colors, eyecolors, hairstyles, haircolors, jewelry and additional themes, like humans are getting africans and asians. dwarves are getting wildhammers. trolls are getting sand/forest/etc, troll themes. belfs just dont have another theme yet.

No ones customizations are there yet. But you’re getting more than BEs the core race and more than other ARs. So to list yourself as “still missing” the skin tones, the biggest thing you are getting is extremely disingenuous to me. Like that’s a big deal, so to play it down, and now deny it all together?

Personally I imagine something between a Hunter and Death Knight, sprinkled with Warlock.
This game needs another ranged user and competition for Bows/Crossbows/Guns.

Because the theme isn’t actually class specific. That’s why I always refer to it as the Darkfallen theme rather than the Dark Ranger theme. It’s a theme that works for any Thalassian that died and was risen.
Want to RP as an Elf that was killed and risen by Arthas then later regained their free will? This theme works.
Want to RP as a member of the San’layn who has decided to join the Horde? Now you can (and look the part).
Want to RP your Hunter as a Dark Ranger? Here’s the aesthetic tools to do so.

Which is what they have done for VEs and the same grace can be extended to BEs who want the Darkfallen aesthetic. I agree.

Exactly. There is no reason not to give this theme to Blood Elves, but it doesn’t have to be the only new theme Blood Elves get. The suggested “light” theme is also a good option, though the Darkfallen theme is low hanging fruit since assets already exist.

Rambling a bit in response to myself here with some ideas to set dark rangers apart from hunters as a class.
An ability to raise fallen animals to fight for them. Since dark rangers are depicted as elves, maybe banshee abilities could be utilized in a class. It might even be cool for them to have a heal spec, have it be a twisted sort of healing like draining life of an enemy to give to an ally sort of thing.

If you want to be an Elf that was killed and risen by Arthas that later regains their free will, play a Death Knight. You don’t even need to RP, that’s just literally what you are.
I don’t equate Dark Rangers to San’layn, either. Even though both are dead elves risen to scourge service, San’layn encompass a larger group, have their own crest, and lean heavy on blood and vampire themes, none of which cross into the clearly necromantic/shadow themes of Dark Rangers.

The Darkfallen theme works for pretty much any class. It has way more flexibility.

We have the player agency Blizzard promised and they have it all but set up to be included with Velonara.
I see it happening more likely than not. But rn overall across the board BE customizations seem to be lacking. Which is the frustration.
