That’s disappointing to be honest. Hopefully that gets addressed before pre-patch goes live.
No worries
I’m really thinking about making my Alliance character a highborne night elf as well, because my belf is pretty much the epitome of what I want from a helf character. And the visuals for the Night elves look so much prettier, and appealing to me.
I’ve been playing with the night elf customizations a lot myself
I think any NPC recustomization will only come after the customization options are finished. And it’s more likely to be targetted at specific named NPCs rather than generic ones.
and Ethereals too. and ogres. and mok’nathal.
Lets see what else. Ogres fans do have that one mega thread.
Moarg would also be popular, though rarely requested because they are somewhat obscure from a player standpoint and only seen as enemies. Well mostly.
Dragons would also be popular.
Can’t forget about Sal’salabim.
You may have seen my fel tinker project once. The moarg are the primary champions of fel tinkering. We’ve seen many races that were only enemies have detractors and not so evil clans among them.
I remember that.
I actually like the fel tinkering aspect. They always seemed to a bit different than the generic felguard and wrathguard types.
Would make sense that without a purpose, some of the Legion’s races are now lacking anything to do.
I’m still weary on whether or not the customizations from this blue post will show up on NPCs at all, or have any real lore implications. I feel like this is similar to when Blizzard allowed any Blood elf class to have golden eyes, even if canonically only light-wielding classes like priests, and paladin have them. A player can choose that, for some reason they had been cleansed by the Sunwell, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to be seeing blood elf hunter and rogue npcs running around with golden eyes.
I don’t believe these customizations are story-driven, but rather they’re options that allow players, if they choose, to utilize on their characters with whatever rational they prefer. Although I would be lying if I weren’t curious as to whether those blood elf argent crusaders around Nathanos all had green eyes.
Read the thread, I´ve been very specific -and VERY easy to please if I say so myself-. Maybe one more new hairstyle, runic tatoos and scars. Anything else than “muh superficial vain airhead elf” trope.
Also in regards to the “manly” beards… I bring to you new lines from the incoming book posted in amazon:
"“Well done!” Lor’themar Theron called to the two braves. The leader of the blood elves with his long, pale hair, scarred and dead left eye, and painstakingly groomed beard raised a chalice. “Bravely done. A toast to these fine soldiers of the Horde. Lok-tar!”
That´s Thrall PoV btw. So come back to tell me the writers and devs believe the Belf beards are SO manly and that Belves aren´t merely a bunch of vain, prissy a**holes. Cause lore says otherwise NOW.
Now people, do you get it why am I so “picky”?
Sounds like Daario Naharis from the books.
Nelves really do have great animations. Humans feel clunky and clumsy. And the Belves/Velves to me are awkward, Draenei are okay, just have a hard time with hooves and tail tbh.
Or another jab at the “Belves only care about looking good” trope.
God I´m SO sick of it. It wouldn´t be a problem if this didn´t try to globalize the whole of the Belf characterization, but damn if this doesn´t happen…
I’m not following everything you’re saying? How was I supposed to know what you’re asking for?
But I agree with your ideas, I think they’re pretty good. More haircuts, tattoos and more beards would be really nice.
This is Thrall’s–an Orc’s–point of view. They probably consider personal hygiene to be feminine. Compared to Humans, Dwarves and Gnomes, Lor’themar would fit right in. Nobody’s going to argue that he’s not 100x more manly than Anduin is.
Also, give every race scars/blind eyes. I want nothing more than to have a blind eye on my Void Elf.
Same here.
The joke wasn’t funny in 2007. It certainly isn’t funny now.
i dont know. i mean it could be seen as vain to want to do anything exactingly. for example, good m+ tournaments, loremaster, anything in which the person’s desire for self improvement could be seen as driven by ego . but is it necessarily always ego driven to strive for perfection. a well ordered life is usually alot easier to navigate. could easily be part problem solving too.
Every old NPC so far is being set to change as little as possible.
I think these new customizations will reflect on some named NPCs (I bet Blizzard staff are eager to improve their favorites), but except for these only new characters and NPCs will reflect those.
We will eventually see blue-eyed blood elves and so on, and I think we will see reasons for some of them, but for now these customizations are for players mostly.
Female Night Elves have the best animations in the entire game overall, with special highlights to their Staff/Polearm and Unarmed animations, which to this day are still more king-fu than the Monk ones.
They also have a rocksteady, perfect Bow stance, 1H + Shield stance, and 2H is a very cool idle that lends to elegant blades like katanas.
Cause I´ve mentioned several times in this thread what I want regarding customization options? Under such premise, your comment came as a little rude, my friend.
Also, this is Blizz LORE stance too -cause at the end of the day the book isn´t written by Thrall but by irl people in charge of the narrative development of the characters AND the races they belong-. Also, wanna make me put the description done in Tides of War basically implying this too?
As Anomaly No. 2 said it, it was a “good joke” 10+ years ago. Now it´s a malicious jab.
Except, those “ego” driven perfectionist? 100% losers (Aethas alone is a monumental jab regarding chronicle incompetence). So your theroy doesn´t compute, dear.
None of these “vain” characters get the benefit of competence… Rommath barely manages it and basically cause he´s used once upon a blue moon, but the rest of the time? /rofl
Heck, who here remembers the artifact quest chain for MM Hunter? Remember what happened to the “vain, prideful” Belf? Cause I ´member… and he was no successful case -as usual-.
