Well they had a plan to give the elves to the Horde, so if they got High Elves from the beginning it would’ve been controversial.
Especially considering WC3 TFT had established the Bloodelves.

Orcs are a core race, all of these for both factions are getting new stuff, Blizzard had said that ARs weren’t getting new stuff for now because they were focused on the core races, yet they decided to go on and give an Alliance AR a lot of new stuff while they weren’t even the ones that need it the most, such as the ones I mentioned.
That’s what I want too. I’m very disappointed with the skin tones we have out now. They could give us many more. And I still want their eyes fixed. The female NB shouldn’t have these enormous disney eyes.

I really do want them to include some longer hairstyles for the male void elves, like the slicked style from the blood elves.
I also think it would be cool if the tentacles could be customized to blue highlighted braids.

No, what I mean is it seems fair in lieu of the treat that was given to Horde, namely an upright posture for one of their races-- nothing similar was given to Alliance.
Fairness doesn’t mean they have to get the same thing, just the same amount of things (thereabouts).
Upright posture was a highly requested addition, as was High Elves. They might not even be technically Quel’Dorei, because it depends if Blizzard explain what this new options mean.

I’m happy to be sure, but not satisfied. Granted this is a brand new story and it COULD be added later or simply not featured. But the LAST thing I need before I’m satisfied is the Blond hair. Once the Blond hair is added to Void Elf customization I’ll officially be done with any and all asks. Blond hair has been an ICONIC look for High Elves, it wouldn’t be right for VE “HE” to not have that option. But if it gets added then yes, I will be officially done with my HE asks.

Like I said in another thread, I think it’s time to stop the long unhealthy fight between pro-HE and anti-HE crowds, because at the end of the day, while not true High Elves, both factions will get a taste of High Elves.
So, I think it’s time to move on and be grateful for what Blizzard is giving to us.
And for last but not least, Thank you Blizzard for making Void Elves a fairer compromise.

The Defenders of Quel’thalas from the 3rd war, The people that had their font of power destroyed by Arthas, and then reborn by Velen and the Naruu.
They are on the Horde.
The Alliance has Void obsessed renegades that blizzard dreamt up in a day. So they can’t be paladins.

It’s no different to Dwarves getting Wildhammer and Trolls getting the Sand tribe.
The way the game describes these playable races isn’t really accurate going forward.
A Void Elf with normal skin tones may well be a High Elf almost entirely if in fact it’s the case they are meant to be Quel’Dorei who have been admitted straight in (rather than Blood Elf traitors).

You realize the High Elves are the exact same people as the Blood Elves? But their families were all killed, so they changed their name to Blood Elves.
They have been the exact same as “High Elves” since BC…

I’m overall fairly happy with this decision/compromise. The Void Elves are not High Elves, but with similar aesthetics (not overt omnipresent void corruption) to High Elves, Alliance players can fairly effectively role play High Elves. I don’t see much of another option - using another Allied Race or regular race slot for High Elves would likely anger much of the player base. If Mag’har Orc customizations had not been so comprehensive from their implementation, we could have seen High Elves added with X Orcs.
Thank you for making player dreams of High Elves a closer reality. I still hope, someday, of having full High Elves, but will suffice with this. Please add options of hairstyles for Void Elf males that do not have male pattern baldness and female hairstyles without tentacles. Perhaps allow some form of customization for the Void Elf racial Entropic Embrace such as elemental alignment (nature, fire, etc. changing only the cosmetic appearance when active). Thank you again for allowing the, likely, least offensive compromise between all parties.
