New Customization Options for Blood Elves and Void Elves

Okay…

Let me do my best.

I think that any of these options on their own are fine. I think the customization options we are getting are great. I’m super happy for the helf rpers.

However, I think that there needs to be consideration for adding to many non void options to the void elf race if they also don’t add some void elf features. I’m happy for helf fans. I just don’t want the void elf to continue to get only helf customization and would like to give that feedback out.

My unpleasent experience is because things like using my thoughts on the fanbase as a way to disregard my entire thought process or disregarding the fact that I said it was cool that you had your opinions. Continuing to somehow try to paint me with this anti-helf rhetoric when really that was never my arguement…etc etc

Oh also saying that my concerns aren’t valid because they’re just smoke screens for anti options or anti high elves or something other than what it is… pretty lousy.

Also, yea you can be defensive… I can still think it’s kind of unpleasant.

Yes! That’s perfect!

It’s ironic that Blizzard banned people for using this mod before deciding to make Void Elves look like this. I guess they don’t like competition.

That being said, I am eager to see what black hair would look on this character. I always though it strange that it wasn’t an option before. I haven’t decide if I’ll change her skin as I’ll need to see what everything looks like together.

Well Blizzard banned people for using that mod because it violates their policy on altering in game models (no matter the type).

Way back in vanilla, model edits were used to bypass the whole of AQ40 to go right to Cthun. Model edits were also used in Warsong Gulch to make the flag super huge so you could always see where it was.

This more benign use of model edits still fell under the policy violation though Blizzard did unban those using that particular mod eventually and warned others not to use it again.

Yes, it’s called defending my arguments.

I tend to say I think your arguments are ‘less valid’ because it - to me - is a phantom to think your experience is somehow being compromised because others want to have something different. It is VERY hard not to look at people who make such arguments with an attitude of those who want to impose their own preferences onto others.

No one is asking for things that aren’t Thalassian, and to me Void Elves being exactly Thalassian elves means there are sensible grounds for wanting access to the normal customisations.

Did you address the fact there are High and Blood Elves in the Rift?

I mean don’t you have any sympathy for the almost certain fact that High Elves have been ursurped by Void? That people for years have been wanting the race? and the fact that this new development can easily be a path to have their cake and eat it? Why not please people who like Void Elves as they are now, and also please those who want a traditional looking elf?

It’s called practical solutions to long-standing wishes, within the framework of what exists.

Also have you responded to my statements (in all fairness it may not be on this thread) that most players in fact don’t read the forums or follow lore? and as such these kinds of players won’t know or care what a ‘High Elf’ is, and will just as likely pick the blue elf because ‘it looks cool’? There exist plenty of voidy customisations already.

You are being exactly as defensive as me, so surely by your own logic you are being just as ‘unpleasant’? Anyway you are effectively being anti-High Elf within the narrow context of Void Elf customisations (maybe not entirely consciously), I’m not saying you are in general. Adding in High Elves as a new race is not a realistic option as I have already explained-- so basically if it doesn’t happen here it won’t happen.

I am specifically asking for a few normal hair types and colours, and a toggle to disable the VISUAL of Entropic Embrace. Forget silly things like renaming the race…

A realistic desire is to have those High Elf Wayfarers be playable within the Void Elves. Who’s to say that now with the refined process of harnassing the void they have to be visually effected by it? I wager most people will be happy being a High Elf who has joined the Void Elf Squad-- the blue versions are in fact Blood Elf traitors.

Aesthetics matter, and so long as the requests can be explained, rather than be just ‘I want it because I do’, like asking for green skin and horns on Humans. ‘Normal’ looking Thalassian Elves could easily be explained within the framework of what exists in game now, and it’s something many people want.

Why is it that other people running around looking like High Elves really hurts your experience? Would it not be more prudent to let them enjoy themselves and you just focus on your game? Why can’t you just look at those players and think “Oh it’s a Void Elf with pink skin and blonde hair.” Honestly I think you need to answer these questions.

Yea, I’m done having a discussion with someone who’s not reading what I’m actually saying and is just having a conversation with what they think I am saying.

This single quote could be used to answer most of your accusations.

Have your opinions. Please keep presenting feedback to Blizzard that you would like more changes. I shall do the same.

“I think that there needs to be consideration for adding to many non void options to the void elf race if they also don’t add some void elf features” I said there are enough Void Elf features.

I am in fact responding to what you are saying, on all accounts. Considering much of your current argument is ‘defensive defensive negative disagreement’ one is quite limited.

Before that you were doing this “Oh agreed. They were talking out the side of their head. It was change the void elf name to high elves, make the racials optional, and give them paladins was the full request.” using extreme outliers as part of your arguments.

“But…that said when it comes for people asking for even more non void based void elf customization, I think people on the other side have the right to voice legitimate criticism and negative feedback.”

"I just think people are asking for more and more non-void options and if Blizzard were to give all of them, then it would start to dilute the themes of the race.

Also, one person straight up asked blizzard to just change the name to high elves already. I have to voice against that right?"

“I really don’t think that we need any more helf customization options and I really do believe that people will continue to push for void elves to just become high elves.”

“Like I said, I can only give feedback and my feedback is that I don’t think we need anymore helf flavoring at the moment, and if Blizzard wanted to that’s really fine, but can we have some more void flavored new stuff before we get even more not void flavored new stuff for our void elves.”

"Because these people don’t want void elves. They want high elves and they’re going to keep pushing that options envelope until they get high elves as long as they think that there’s hope for it.

Edit: Ha told ya!"

and how do you expect people to respond to this? It’s not out of context either because these are isolated staments not parts of a paragraph.

"Yea, they are. My opinion of helf fans has exceedingly diminished in the last couple of days. I went from being basically rooting for them to hoping this is the last of the customization that they get.

Their fandom is one of the worst I’ve dealt with in this game. SO, like I said, voice your feedback, but don’t get dragged down into the mud with them."

That’s rather provocative and unpleasant isn’t it sir?

Have some accountability.

My argument “against” more helf customization for void elves has nothing to do with not liking helf fans.

I… just don’t like you. My feedback isn’t determined by more than a mild emotional response.

If they changed void elves completely to high elves tomorrow, I’d feel mild disappointment.

My argument has been there’s enough high elf customization options please add more void ones. You 're allow to think the opposite. That’s fine, but …

that’s all it boils down to.

My opinion of the helf fandom…which where all those quotes come from…isn’t likely to change because you wrote a wall of text…

And feel free to think I’m as unpleasant as you’d like. You’re free to do so. My self image isn’t influenced by strangers on the internet.

I understand and have had the same experience. It’s why I took such a long break from these discussions and only came back because of these new developments.

If I was more emotionally attached to things, I might have to step back. As it is, it’s strangers on a forum that I talk to instead of doing something else.

I can’t be offended by anything said here.

I like and appreciate this change immensely. I already liked blood elves and void elves a lot but these changes are basically going to see me make several more.

There definitely needs to be more Hair Color options for Void Elves.

Both to match the new skins and because they are limited in color.

Alleria has Blond Hair so that’s not out of the question. They can make it a more muted and washed out Blond to differentiate it.

Their hair literally turns White during Entropic Embrace so that should have been an option from the start.

Brown hair is kind of the middle ground between Blond and Black so it could work.

I don’t see red working.

As for hair styles we should see more tentacled and none tentacled ones.

A very dark tone of red works really well with pale or blue skin. Ask Mistique.

(Commentary): Unit Exacitor feels an example might help expel concerns, especially if it can be a touch humorous.

Frantic Gnome: Umbric! Horrible news! They’re turning your entire race into High Elves!
Umbric: What? That’s terrible! What are they doing?!
Frantic Gnome: They’re giving you Blood Elf skin tones!
Umbric: You mean we’re losing our beautiful blue skin?!
Frantic Gnome: Well… no, you still have that.
Umbric: Then… how are they turning us into High Elves?
Frantic Gnome: They’re trying to take away your tentacle hair!
Umbric: WHAT?! No! I love my tentacles! Shaving has never been easier! I won’t have my tentacles anymore?
Frantic Gnome: Well, actually… yeah, you’re not losing the hairstyles, but they want hair styles WITHOUT tentacles!
Umbric: Well… there are worse thing. A few Void Elves have hair without tentacles and they seem to get along.
Frantic Gnome: But they want to make you all blond!
Umbric: WHAT?! Blond hair doesn’t go with our heritage armor at all! They can’t take my blue and purple hair away!
Frantic Gnome: Actually… I mean… you’ll still have that color option, but they’re pushing hard for blond hair!
Umbric: . . . I fail to see how that’s a problem. I love my blue tentacle filled hair, but so what if some people want to be blondes again? Not everyone is ready for the Void.
Frantic Gnome: BUT UMBRIC THEY WANT TO TAKE AWAY YOUR RACIALS!
Umbric: . . . I will personally throw the first person to touch my racials into the deepest, darkest pit of the Void.
Frantic Gnome: Exactly! We have to fight this menace! Imagine, Entropic Embrace without the glow. The nerve! Taking the void out of Void Elves!
Umbric: Wait… They just want to remove the visual? That’s a bit extreme. Alleria’s is certainly superior, but fixing Entropic Embrace would be best, and what we have now is better than nothing.
Frantic Gnome: Well… actually… they just want the ability to toggle it off.
Umbric: . . . So?
Frantic Gnome: THEY’RE TRYING TO TAKE THE VOID OUT OF THE VOID ELVES AND MAKE YOU ALL INTO HIGH ELVES!
Umbric: . . . Little gnome, the Whispers make more sense than you are right now.

Question will we get new options for Draenei?

(Statement): New Draenei customization has been confirmed, including longer tails!

Yes. But we only know a few for now. Some skin colors, some hair colors. We know there will be jewelry, but no preview. And there will be an option for longer tails (the females had it since WoD, but it was never activated).

Here’s what we know so far:

Look, I’ve come back around to things, but…while you might find this humorous…

Maybe don’t be surprised if people feel like you’re trying to downplay any concern they may have.

(Commentary): I’m less attempting to downplay concerns so much as point out the fallacy. Blizzard will not make drastic changes to the Void Elves, such as the removal of racials, just to appease the High Elf crowd. At that point it’d be simpler to just add a new Allied Race. Sometimes, the best way to show the fallacy of a line of logic, is to try and make light of it. That fabricated conversation was not meant to portray any one specific person in a bad light, but rather to take hyperbole to those concerns to show how ungrounded they are. In short, I’m hoping people with concerns can read it, laugh, and feel better.

Yea, I get that, and honestly, I get where you’re coming from really.

I just know that this is a very passionate subject for … people and they could take it poorly because of that.
