New Book gets lore wrong? Blood Elves weren't addicted to fel

I just like to think everything after Legion is basically fanfiction with Metzen gone. Kinda like Disney’s Star Wars. Those who were around and loved the original stories still have them even if the new owners are changing things to fit their badly written narratives.

Is George “I don’t like sand” Lucas the Metzen of this scenario? lol…

You say this like he asked for or needed help.

Sorry, I don’t see a difference in buying a book to get a faction perspective vs. playing the game for the faction perspective.

Oh I don’t think Lucas is that great of a writer…look at the prequels. He had A LOT of help with the originals. Did you ever see the original design for Chewie? Thank god he wasn’t in a position to have all the final decisions.

You always want someone with a vision for a story and hopefully they have some good critics that can stop them from making terrible decisions during the writing process. Nowadays most big franchises are written by committee with little to no clear vision of an overall theme.

We have lore in this game?

I do think he was amazing at building a world, however, even if he needed a bunch of skilled people around him to turn that world into a movie that didn’t suck eggs.

That’s something WoW seems to lack, lately, as well - solid, consistent worldbuilding. Or even the story happening in or effecting the world at all. It seems to only progress within raids, pre-rendered cutscenes … it would have been so cool to see this ‘huge war’ (that we allegedly had) reflected within the actual world of WarCraft. Skirmishes breaking out throughout Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.

I know, it’s more work - but it really does make the world feel small when all the important events happen in a single spot. :frowning:

That’s because you’re not silly enough to think a character’s views over rule a dev. Other people are silly.

Tbh, I think Shaws comment on the BEs is pretty enlightening because if the Spymaster is talkin’ like this, that probably means that believing the BEs as fel addicts might be a common misunderstanding within the Alliance.

Idk, I like stuff like this because it expands the factions vision on other races/factions a bit. Makes for better RP. :woman_shrugging:

This company doesn’t respect its own game’s Lore.

Because this isn’t a novel, it’s a lore book. What’s the point in a lore book where a significant portion of it is objectively wrong?

It would make sense given the night elves insults towards the blood elves in Legion regarding fel addiction.
It would also help explain some of the animosity that the blood elves have towards the alliance if they’ve been misjudged. I think it would be good if they expand on the displeasure each race has towards the opposite faction.
We get a lot on why Vereesa and Alleria hate the orcs, but we don’t get much information as to why the Horde races view the alliance so poorly.
Even the blood elves dislike of the alliance seems directed only at Dalaran which is now neutral.

It’s a spinoff book from Shaws perspective :woman_shrugging:

It shouldn’t be leaned on as a lore book in any shape or form other than expanding things in certain perspectives.

I really wish we’d get more of this.

Exactly, and I will say I do feel odd with Dranei being enemies of the Horde. I mean…they helped the blood elves. You think there would be lore there about the blood elves being friendly to dranei or refusing to harm them given how theyhelped restore the Sunwell.

#Dissolve the faction and allow cross faction grouping.

I refuse, the Alliance is whiny and I hate them. =3

We can teach them how to not whine, they can use our guidance.

You can’t teach those who do not wish to learn.
I am currently in the process of stabbing the majority of those I encounter in Boralis.

if by help you mean force you to take in holy energy without your consent (which has been hinted to have mind controlling effects) then you are correct.

That isn’t a novel. It’s not presented as a book about Shaw, it’s called “Exploring Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms” not “Shaw’s Shanties”. Would anyone care about Chronicle if it wasn’t largely true? Like we know they’ve given themselves an excuse for lore developments to come, but it’s 90% accurate at least.

Shaw’s involvement is described as a “framing story”, not a story about Shaw and his flawed understanding of Azeroth’s history.
