New Authenticator is not secure

My log in expired and and I need to re login. So I do and I need to verify on the authenticator. Then the authenticator said it has been updated to the battle.net app. And i need to login to the battle.net app, but it keeps opening up Chrome link… a link to login outside of the authenticator is not secure this is super sketch doesn’t seem secure at all.

Yes, to the support article, most likely. Or a link to the Bnet app for you.

I have to log in through my web browser, but still need the app? Doesn’t seem smart

A lot of “security” things make me question how they help. Like everyone these days wants you to add a phone # for “security” - yet I know on places like Amazon your phone # works as your login name thing. How many people know your phone #? How is it secure to give out half your login info? I always use an email for things that NOBODY knows so how is giving out phone #'s adding security? I never trusted using a phone for any “security” and eventually I just gave up having a phone. The old fashion authenticators are so much safer and I question why they are discontinued. Eventually they wont work anymore :frowning:

You have an authenticator. You need the authenticator on your phone to authenticate your login to the desktop app.

The authenticator is now part of the Bnet phone app.

See instructions in the article I linked.

If you have further questions, I’d ask the CS forums.

I got the message opening the authentication app but the B-net app has nothing in it yet.

The Bnet app for Android and iOS both have the authenticator as part of them now.

I can’t log in through the BNET app, BNet sends me to a web link on my chrome browser. Which is a red flag to me.

Only if you can’t remember your login information. Amazon uses an email address. If you don’t remember it, you can type in your phone number and it will send an authenticator code to your phone.

It’s not sending you anywhere. It’s giving you more help options if you continue to have issues.

Again, if you continue to have problems, please ask in the Customer Support forums, so that they can help. They have the knowledge. GD doesn’t.

It is a Blizzard link telling you what you need to do to setup the authenticator in the Bnet app.

no it’s a log in screen.
OK, I will stop replying here

Then go to the Customer Support forums.

Usernames should not be assumed to be secret. Although I too like to keep mine hidden, there are often a variety of ways they can leak out.

(I used to use unique email addresses for logins and wait to see if spam started showing up as a way to track which sites were selling/leaking my info)

Imagine the horror of people dropping off thick books on your doorstep every 2 years with not only people’s phone number, but also their physical address too!!!

They teach kids about the mass carnage that came from that in school today, right? /shudders

The authenticator wasnt broken and didnt need fixed. Just another example of a team that are clueless about the game.

We really didn’t need 2 separate apps.

How? Those things are tiny and once you lose it you’re screwed. You’re especially screwed if someone gets ahold of the thing too.
