New Account Restrictions?!?!?! This can't be serious?

Absolutely right, there was no warning about this policy at time of subscription. There is also no warning on the page that explains how new/returning players can start playing classic. This is a complete surprise that new players discover sometimes after an hour of game play (which means no refund iirc).

facepalm There is literally no need for you to find it. What you linked is literally in the original post I gave you. It’s also last updated 2 days ago.

no matter what, the policy has been in affect before you ever made any of your posts here and before this post existed.

no matter what, the policy was put into effect to combat RMT

no matter what, the policy was put into affect (this part is assuming) likely because people like you, not literally you (although probably you) but like you have been complaining for years that blizzard isn’t doing enough.

You don’t get to have your cake and eat it too. Either they do more to stop RMT, or they don’t do anything at all. Doing more WILL impact the average player too because the accounts are the same

Now for some quotes pertaining to this situation:
You reap what you sow
The actions of the minority impact the majority (a more specific version of “The actions of one impacts the many”)
You can’t have it both ways

You can’t individually because there’s no doubt an arbitration clause in the TOS. The attorney general of a state somewhere might want to look into this, however and decide if consumer protection laws were violated.

really?
Good on you for reading all the terms and conditions and privacy statements. +
I guess. No one reads those.

Okay sure. Blizzard End User License Agreement section 9 B states: “Blizzard may also impose limits on certain features or restrict your access to parts or all of the Platform, Games, or Accounts without notice or liability.” From my understanding this is intentionally vague and still doesn’t give the full picture for this exact restriction. I wouldn’t consider this to mean “you won’t be able to trade/use AH for 26 days.” It’s too imprecise. Give me an exact warning at the time of subscription!

From the top down it is not so much vague but a blanket statement.
I’ve no idea, within each product specifically there may be more specific additions.
I was lazy which is why I just added the +

It’s just you. Intentionally not understanding anything and desperately trying to elicit any emotional response. You won’t find it.

Sucks to be you. I can link posts, and I did link posts. Everything I’ve linked is the official policy, from them, and includes everything up until the 22nd of November. The day this whiny post was made.

It’s not vague, like at all. You even admitted to completely understand it when you linked my own post back at me.

At this point, this isn’t even a productive conversation anymore. It’s just you being belligerent and practically begging for an emotional response from me, while I link and reference the official stance from Blizzard multiple times that, evidently, just isn’t good enough for you.

Tough. It doesn’t matter if it’s not good enough for you, that’s what it is.

Oh, are we already getting to the part where the people that believe they have any legal standing get laughed out of their case? Damn, I thought it might actually make it to the court room, it’s no fun when it ends this early…

It’s an End User License Agreement. It’s supposed to be broad in including what it pertains to. The specifics are outlined in actual posts and interviews.

Yall don’t read any of that anyway until you scour it during a conversation like this to hopefully have a gotcha. Do you realize how much longer it would be if every single solitary unique instance of something falling under that description was included?

Probably not, nor would it matter. You wouldn’t read it anyway, just like you (in general) don’t now.

I can honestly bet the people having this vitriolic reaction here, are doing so either while their character is actively logged in or will be logged in later today.

People say “no one hates Pokemon more than Pokemon fans” but tbh I feel like WoW fans could give them a run for their money

I 100% agree.

Echo chamber indeed.

True and you’re correct, I didn’t read the EULA at the time of purchase. I am curious however, was there a post/interview that explained that this would be the case for the classic anniversary fresh realms? I subscribed about an hour before the servers opened. Also I don’t feel like the average returning/new player is going to (nor should they have to) explore the forums to see if there is a restrict that is this specific. Just put a heads up when I go to subscribe! Like “Head’s up! You’re account is new (or returning from a hiatus). You won’t be able to perform X action for the first Y days” If I were warned ahead of time in this fashion I would feel far less aggravated about this.

No. In fact, if you click the post I linked, the only place it’s specifically stated to exist in, is SoD currently, and it’s stated that if it exists anywhere else, to report it to them.

This, I agree with. I do feel like they could and should add this.

Judging by all your replies, not just in this thread, but in most of the past few weeks, it might be better for you to just quit and take a break from here. It doesnt look healthy for you, especially when you’ve devolved into just talking like an animal, literally.

Hope that goes well for you.

I found the post you linked which was enlightening. I am hoping that this is unintentionally being applied here but if it’s not then I’ll deal with it; it’s not super game breaking just frustrating/unexpected. I did report it as feedback/bug in game as you suggested. Hopefully they add some kind of popup or something eventually. Cheers!

Cherry on top if they decide to allow token trade and gold.

Sucks that legit people get caught in the crossfire because of their piss poor bot problems but at this point if you are quitting and afraid that they might deny your refund option, might as well go nuclear and file a chargeback if you don’t intend to come back.

My family and I have 19+ year WoW accounts and have played on US servers until yesterday. We have been playing since 2005. We decided to play on European servers this time so we can raid during the day as that fits our schedules better. I created a European sub several years ago but never used it. However, my husband and son both created new European subscriptions 2 days ago in anticipation of the launch of fresh Classic servers. We are now playing on Thunderstrike.

Both my husband and son have restrictions on their subs. They cannot trade or mail items at all which makes playing together very difficult. We will be level 60 before these restrictions are lifted which is ridiculous. I realize there is a 30 day restriction on the new Starter Edition subs which are required if you want to play on a European server. I also understand these limitations are in place to discourage gold sellers. However, both these accounts are very old with NO history of gold selling or buying.

I do not understand why this limitation is applied unilaterally with absolutely no review.
A very cursory review of both accounts would make it obvious neither is a gold seller or buyer as there have been absolutely no violations in our almost 20 year history with WoW. We’ve created tickets in game but I am doubtful we will get any kind of action or response. It leaves a very bad impression with customers to apply rules like this unilaterally with absolutely no consideration for cases like ours.

Edit: Posted this on EU forums but thought it might be interesting to OP
