There’s really nothing enjoyable about a circular grind for tokens on T2 sets. Apparently it’s up to the players to gift Bliz more of their time? A bit crazy you get 1 token for doing 30+ minute events, a raid that’s overtuned and feels like a slog (with bad visuals and really terrible design overall…) and each t2 set costs 30 tokens? Yeesh. It’s a lot worse than I had ever thought it could be. There’s nothing enjoyable… and I wish there was.
The vareity has gotten pretty stale already, I was kinda expecting a continuation of the story along with new content alongside the anniversary update but I guess we need to wait until December/January before we’ll see anything new lol
I so agree. I have been playing since the game first came out and I have never been as disappointed as I am with this one…I’m just going to skip all of that. Not even story continuation.
it’s actually 60 tokens
it’s only 60 for the first one.
Once you buy one it drops to 40.
Once you buy another it drops to 20. The remaining will cost 20.
Why did they structure it this way? I have no idea.
What in the world
overdesigned
So far it’s 60 and most people will be done.
Nobody wants to do this moronic grind.
The 5 people who will die on the hill of calling the majority lazy for not continuing can do that.
The “past 100 trust me bro”, “dropping like candy” theory is also yet to be seen. Blizzard will screw that up.
The sets are 60 tokens.
Cripes. 60 for the first one, I stand corrected. But yeah what a grind for a supposedly fun event? Or are they getting away with this for not adverting as “fun”? LOL Remember when they said “we respect your time?” Pepperidge Farm remembers
I have to admit I did the rounds the first day and haven’t done anything since. Going to get one buff for each of the alts I intend to eventually level, but even with as sick as (most of) the t2 sets are, I just have no interest in a months-long chore list to acquire them. I’ll probably bring myself to at least get the shaman one, but even that I dunno.
The big miss for me is that the raid is overtuned. I love challenging content in general, but the overhead necessary to raid is such that I already can’t really raid conventionally, let alone bonus raids. I don’t think a celebration event was the time to introduce something actually difficult. If it were engaging-but-middling in difficulty, and awarded decent tokens, I’d probably happily farm tokens that way doing it once per week on my 80s, but yeah…
It’s a really big miss by Blizz to make it so you can’t get the first T2 set during the first week, even if it takes all week.
I think the max is like 49 (per Wowhead) for the first week, so they could have added another dozen to get to 60 the first week without too much of a problem, so clearly that was an intentional and deliberate design choice, for inexplicable reasons.

TIME.
GATING.
Classic WoW move.
Next content patch is extremely far away in the grand scheme of things.
And yeah, I agree… very disappointed in the anniversary event so far.
Same here. Just awful on top of all the money grab crap if late. This is not the Wow I remember. It’s now run by corporate swine.
Agree. It’s also buggy. I stopped doing anything in it when I did 2 activities and got no progress on the quest to complete anniversary activities. This whole event is an epic fail.
I suppose they figured 60 was an acceptable grind for one, but didn’t want to punish people with lots of alts by having them all 60?
this whole game is kind of a circular grind lmao
So you couldn’t play for a few weeks, collect everything, and then quit, as well as so you couldn’t wait to reup until the last couple of weeks either.
The design of the whole system screams ‘must stay subbed most of the full event’.
I guess? But this feels like it inadvertently punishes people who don’t use alts to achieve it.
Idk, it doesn’t really matter that much, but just having them all be a slightly lower static cost makes more sense to me.
I don’t think you can get extra by running alts through the quest though, so I don’t see how players with only one toon would be at a disadvantage. They’re once a week per warband.
If you do the easy ones this week and next week you’ll probably have enough for a set. I guess I wouldn’t mind if it was faster or there wasn’t a time gate, but 1 a week (it’ll be more like 2 a week after 2nd set + 100 tokens) doesn’t feel terrible to me.
But hey look on the bright side you can give Blizzard all your life savings for some mounts and a pet /s
