Nerfing Combat Logs: Will It Happen? Should It Happen?

All they did that hotfix was increase the time on the phase by 10 seconds, and make it so that if you fail, it tells you who the imposters were.

Not sure I’d call that a massive nerf to the boss, since among us wasn’t the hard part to begin with.

They need to make the Aug hooks available in game. It’s stupid and indefensible to make it not work in the first place.

If we’re goin to have specs like Aug, something I’m not at all convinced of, we at least need to be able to measure their performance like we can with the other 38 specs in the game.

10 seconds was pretty big… Did you progress and kill that boss on mythic pre-fix? The nerfs that followed were even more huge to the point you could brute force a kill.

SOFO was such a garbage raid…

DBM, BigWigs, and Method Raid Tools can all see if you have them installed. MRT can even see if you have specific WeakAuras installed if you’re running it.

i know the tools can. i’m saying i haven’t seen a group do it.

I mean, they trivialized the mechanic that people used a WA to trivialize.

Most organized raid groups have addon requirements, and they check for them.

It’s completely irrelevant outside of coordinated/guild groups. No pugs do that.

The big nerf to that boss was just fixing the garbage design decision that only some abilities got the damage amp from the swarm phase.

The auto-solver WA was only publicly available for 1 week before it was hotfixed.

Wasn’t this the hotfix that also just made the bosses take double damage from all sources, instead of some arbitrary list of “AoE” abilities that didn’t even include 75% of them? Or did that happen a bit sooner?

Because if that change is part of said hotfix, it is extremely fair to say it’s a gigantic nerf to that boss. It made some specs (Fire/Frost Mages and Destro Warlocks in particular) go from “these aren’t anything special” to “these specs snap this boss in half.”

I found the patch… It wasn’t just adding 10 seconds to that phase like you said it was…

Mal’Ganis and Kin’tessa health reduced by 5% on all difficulties.
Swarm of Decay and Swarm of Darkness damage reduced by 7.5% on all difficulties.
Ravenous Hunger now heals the Inchoate Shadow for 13% on Mythic difficulty (was 10%).
Cloud of Carrion no longer disorients when jumping between players on Heroic and Mythic difficulty.
Infiltration of Dread duration increased by 10 seconds on Heroic and Mythic difficulty.

Boss became a complete meme after this if you killed if pre-nerf.

That happened a few days before they broke the auto solver.

I find it unlikely that Blizz would consider what it does modifying or facilitating gameplay.

I believe that’s referring to adding/removing doodads, not merely drawing on the game world.

Which one you found? that’s inconsistant with the patch notes I found (unless they just forgot to document the HP/damage nerfs on the forum post announcing the changes).

Actually I think more people agree with Pyri than disagree. Myself included.

incorrect. AVR was banned. It drew on the game world.

spoken by someone who doesn’t understand that API is application programming interface. Which was expressly developed by Blizzard for third party addon authors to create programs that interface with the game.

They can still encrypt specific elements though, as shown (in a way) with their ability to make some boss auras private.

Yes… but they’re not going to encrypt all API’s. That impacts everything from something simple like Bagnon to Pet Battles to raiding.
