No one was complaining about baseline Obliterate damage until KM rank 2 in SL.
Is it haste or mastery after crit? Biceps’ guide says to go Crit/Haste.
There were definitely people complaining about regular Obliterate damage. Maybe it was PvP players, maybe it was PvE players that just wanted “Big Oblits”, maybe it was people that just wanted to press 1 button. I can’t answer which part of the playerbase was but there were definitely complaints that Frost Strike and Howling Blast were doing “too much” and Obliterate “not doing enough”.
Crit > Mastery > Haste, in that order of preference. A crit/haste item or mastery/haste won’t kill you but for season 1 you generally want to maximize your amount of crit/mastery items.
Because a few people came from WoD where Obliterate was double dipping MotFW.
30% Reapplication of RM was removed. Both Core and Hero talent nerfed.
Give them ideas, they will not hesitate to act on it.
yep.
get used to horseman and sanlame
It didn’t get removed. Effects were made baseline.
Making a post on the dk forums as a dk, calling for a nerf, is wild
I get it, as much fun as it is I think it is a bit crazy damage wise. Like it is 30-40% of our damage now from this one new ability. And it outshines rider so much none of the recommended builds on wowhead use it except for open world/delves. And rider is good imo.
And also its another layer of rng that is going to lead to some encounters just being bad dps no matter how well we play. I’ve had some encounters where that 30% reapply didn’t happen a single time and I do much less damage
Actually I guess it’s pretty on point for frost dks because it does the 2 things we’re known for, rng and one move being the majority of our damage on a 45 second cd
tbf frost and unholy are still way overperforming. I dont want them to be absolutely ruined, but compared to all other classes with the exception of arcane mage they are number 1
I agree. When Pillar is off cooldown, our damage isn’t smooth. Too many of pur talents are tied to pillar and we should probably change a few to simply buff our baseline kit our procs in a maner that evens it out over time instead of dealing it all in one window.
Lmao based on what? Being better than Warlock sims? Heroic dungeons?
Exactly its WAY too on or off. Our base kit is tuned around our CDs instead of our CDs being tuned around our base kit.
They could make pillar 15-20% str bonus and buff Frost Strike, Obliterate, Remorseless Winter, Icy Death Torrent, and Glacial Advance up to a point that our burst is the same it is right now but we aren’t doing healer damage when we have to do a pack without pillar.
Assassination rogue is my first alt and it may be a one off but i don’t need a single CD besides getting a stealth to top dam every single trash pack.
Like other specs our AOE should not depend on a 45s CD because too often I have to do healer damage due to there’s a huge pack or boss next and i wont have CDs for it if I use them now. Maybe Cleaving Strikes need to go away so that the other AOE skills can be brought up and Oblit can be buffed for Single target.
This post aged like rancid milk. Both are lower middle of the pack in raid rn, and while Frost is decent in dungeons, there are specs that bring a better overall package.
In my experience the biggest issues I keep running into is the base kit doesn’t provide enough offset for Haste loss based on class armor itemization for secondary stats like haste. There’s not enough CD parity with the most important talents to the spec that being POI and RW. They should have the same CD and both could be talented to have their CDs reduced with FS as a filler RP spender, while keeping its component of rune regen. As a more niche criticism of the hero talents, Extermination’s proc rate is abysmal. All my ppm / up time tests shows it being up most encounters MAYBE 6 to 3% of the time. It should be closer to 30% of up time given the commitment to the skill and what it means over all for the HERO TALENT TREE, emphasis on HERO, meaning it should feel impactful. Right now it feels like a thin strip of flex seal on something akin to the gaping hole in the hull of DK class playability with respect to Frost specifically.
That’s it, for a cap stone talent, that’s a bloody joke. The inciting skill DB has a 45 second CD, in the grand scheme of raid encounters that CD isn’t that big of a deal. Raiding is not the bulk of the content players are doing. Could use a change in my opinion so something less cumbersome, 30 seconds or 25 makes the most sense and it should auto crit with reduced base damage to make it more “balanced”.
I don’t think these are terribly unbalanced asks of the spec at current date. It’s just my take to smooth out the REALLY rough edges around the spec in its current iteration and make the Hero tree itself feel more impactful to play.
And for the love of the Lich King, gives us a god forsaken bloody party / raid buff or debuff that makes it more attractive to bring us along for the ride, unholy hell. Make it spec specific or class specific, I don’t care, FLAVOR, BLIZZARD. Stop seasoning your classes like WW2 Britain, which is not at all. Here’s some spitball ideas.
Unholy - Withering Plague or Unholy Miasma: Party buff component, increases passive leech by x% reduces critical strike chance or damage against players from enemies afflicted with Unholy Diseases by x%
Frost - Lingering Deathchill: Enemies afflicted with Frost Death knight skills like Howling Blast or Frost Fever making them brittle and take x% more damage from all sources and are slowed by 10% of normal movement speed. (PVE component) team members have bonus movement speed by x% to y%, this would be mostly flavor, probably a step too far.
Blood - Vampiric Essence: Team component would be something akin to a passive bonus to HP and class resource regen by some small but not insignificant %, or could grant a passive damage shield over a base value of damage done.
I get that these would be really strong when compared to other class specific raid or party wide passive buffs. but flavor flavor flavor. It’s what makes classes interesting and fun to play and play with.
It did age like milk lol we suck and I’m sorry
nerf death grip and DK snare. it’s ridiculous.
Or, here me out:
Change KM. Make obliterate do Half phy/frost damage and 100% frost with KM procs. Make KM no longer give 100% crit chance.
Sustain goes up, and other spells (like howling blast, FS, GA ect) can also be buffed so all buttons feel impactful.
I love frost fantasy, but hate how it revolves around crit needed to make your spec even function, but also leads to weird scaling.
remember when we had OG horn of winter?
