I just did a test in game. I messaged 5 different people in LFG looking for healers and asked what class they wanted. 1 Said any non-paladin, 1 said priest preferred with druid/mage otherwise, and the other 3 said anything they didn’t care.
What I asked why the priest preference I was told “For fortitude”

I want to preface this with I agree that the hunter nerfs were warranted and that more may come and that is not a bad idea. What I do not get is how people agree with the same bad arguments they disagree with when hunters say it. “we are the only Healer Focused class” therefore we should be top healers and “we are the only dps specific class we should be top dps” both of these statements are not good logically.
The other “healing classes” that lag behind priest in heals, can functionally fill other roles.
That being said, what we really need to do is…. ban priests from participating in PvP at all! It would get rid of them faster than nerfing them until they don’t want to queue anymore.

They are not good logically no but Shadow priest is one of the worst specs in the game if they do nerf priest wrong you effectively delete the class from the map. SoD priest penance is also the only change our dps rotation has. if they nerf it we are just playing classic priest dot wand spam. its the only dps spell we use rn thats different from classic.

what playstyle change did hunters get? melee hunter getting an even more clunky ability than homunculus and carve lmao. we could go lone wolf and lose 15% damage and that doesnt make the rotation new. I would say priests in wsg need a nerf idk how this is possible but also they need to fix lighting breath in my opinion. I stopped running it even though its still bis for pvp because it feels like cheese
My argument is definitely not that priests should be the only or best healer class. I think other healers need to shine too. But not by NERFING priests, but by buffing the other classes.
My main argument about the amount of healing priests isn’t about them being the best (again druids outheal them in BFD for raid healing and compete with them on tank healing alongside mages) but that the REASON that 96% of priests are healing is because that’s the only spec they can do.
If they gave fortitude to another class and made shadow dps on par with other casters, you would see priest healers start evaporating overnight. This is literally the reason there are so many.
Fortitude is a massive buff, and the best PVP buff there is. And very desired for BFD too with how much raid damage goes out.
And priests can only fill one role.
Give them a second role and take away their buff, boom their domination goes away entirely.
