One thing that Blizzard has yet to realize is that PTR testing is full of literal game pros and content creators. Some people play PTR because their livelihoods depend on it.
The PTR data and feedback is based on the top few percentage of all of WoW players and does not reflect the situation for the average player. (The average player does not usually play or even download the PTR.)
nah i did it. twins is super doable and one of the fairly tuned ones.
Death and Madness
Body and Soul
Searing Nightmare
Last Word
Shadow Crash
Void Torrent
Hungering Void
Run those talents. First chase, only use Shadowfiend on Karam plus VoiT and SCrash. Make sure VoiT is up for first burn. Pop all CDs minus Shadowfiend which is down and burst Raest. Ignore adds unless they path ontop of Raest then you can Searing Nightmare spam at most twice. You should be able to burst Raest down to 64-71% HP. Any higher and just reset the run.
Utilize SW:Death on small adds to proc Death and Madness for even more Devouring Plagues while kiting Karam. IMMEDIATELY SILENCE THE HANDS. Thereâs a long time inbetween casts, but you ideally have interrupt for each and our interrupt, even while talented, does not line up by around 3 seconds.
Before you push into the second burn phase, make sure you have VoiT and all your cooldowns up, minus Shadowfiend which will be a few seconds delayed. Should be around 3 grasping hands you should kill. Pop every CD, lust, pot, and focus down Raest.
The trick to the soak to stop the big add from spawning is to kite the small adds plus Karam to the right side area you see when you first enter. The soaks tend to spawn on the left and you donât want it to spawn on top of Karam or the adds.
After your CDs end, you need to balance doing damage to the hand and Raest. You will always have to interrupt a hand so you donât have to quickly get it down unless its on its 2nd cast. Karam will be really fast, but eventually youâll get all your CDs back up again and you need to find time to get into Void Form. After that it should be kill.
In previous attempts, I was able to get Raest down to 60% on first burn phase, by ignoring adds and letting my trinket procs and Shadowcrash damage them.
I donât know how in the world you managed to have three hands up at once, though, and burst them down. Considering the (relatively) long cooldown of Silence and Void Torrent, even one hand is usually all that I can handle.
The Last Word talent helps here, of course, but most recently I was using the Psychic Horror talent to stop Karam so that I could deal with the hands and other mechanics.
As stated in other threads, though, in Legion and on PTR you could kill Karam to keep him from being a nuisance while you dealt with mechanics, but on live today you absolutely cannot kill Karam because Raestâs Shadowbolts become unsurvivable.
I have never seen this much outrage so quickly on the forums before. They badly misjudged how players would respond to changes that meant their 6 month sub was bought under false pretenses.
Amen! This is my final straw too! The only thing that has kept me from quitting so far was my high hopes of the mage tower actually bringing enjoyment back into the game. All of these neckbeards saying âget goodâ wonât know what to do with their lives when literally everyone quits because of filth like them.
As you have probably read about, all the hardcore players on the PTR said that the challenge was not the same as Legion due to class changes but was reasonable. (Keep in mind how little time the challenges were available for testing and what kind of players do PTR usually.)
But suddenly the day before the challenges go live, enemy health and damage got buffed to the point where any strategy that worked in Legion or PTR stopped working.
This is definitely a case of false pretenses. Is one sixth-month sub not enough? Do devs expect people to stay subbed perpetually so that they have to keep trying the Mage Tower every time it is up?
Or was Ion afraid that hardcores would complain about MT being too easy, and WoW being too casual?
You not being able to beat the mage tower is obviously a skill issue. The fact that the mage tower is ACTUALLY challenging makes it fun. Its not impossible its just borderline challenging for most specs. Fury warrior nice 2 shot. You complaining because you canât kill it you just want everything handed to you on a silver plate and want it easy. Like go play the cat girl final fantasy game if you want care bears, sunshine, and rainbows.
Or could it be a WoW development issue? Have you attempted and successfully completed all 36, by the way?
Great suggestion, seriously. FF is a well developed game, and it has so much more than cutesy stuff like cat girls. You would know that, too, if you actually played it.
Raest enrages and deals 500% more damage if you ever kill karam. Shadow bolts do roughly 1.7k per hit from that point. It means you cannot slowroll the final phase and kill Karam, you have to just burn and handle mechanics.
On ptr you could lust and obliterate karam, which prevented hands from spawning, and meant you could spend forever in the last phase killing small adds and standing in runes until dots finished Raest.
I have roughly 7.2 K health with buffs and consumables.
This, exactly. I simply donât have the gear and/or skill to burst down Raest before Karam becomes unmanageable, all while dealing with the mechanics.
If you were raid-geared in Legion, you could burst down Raest with Surrender to Madness.
I updated the guide this morning when I saw what the live version of the fight was. Itâs honestly one of the few spec challenges I think is realistically doable without timewalking gear. Not that I think the tuning is âfineâ, itâs certainly harder than it ever was in Legion (Including release).
But itâs doable, and learnable, and practicable.
And thatâs more than I can say for many of the others.
