Over the last few weeks, I’ve tanked roughly 60 Heroic runs to help guildies complete their Phase 2 attunement. Our guild has 9 raid teams, and across all runs I have less than 6 wipes.
My tank is 1700+ GS Crit/Crush/Enchanted/Spell power trinket/PvP Neck & Belt/ Full 5-piece raid set. There will be times that I still get 1 shot.
Heroics aren’t fun. They suck. Undergeared groups must be hell. Majority of the community doesnt care for “Harder” content. All the sweats don’t care for Heroics. Just nerf them already. Once my guildies are attuned im never touching Heroics again unless they get nerfed. I dont like the idea of charging gold or HR Loot so I never do. I’d play them but not in the current state.
agreed. It is already extremely hard to get into heroics if you arent a tank, healer, or cc class. I am a warlock, sometimes I get in if they just need to fill a higher dps spot, but its usually hours sometimes never, that i get into the heroic daily. Trying to queue for my attunements is horrid, and I know some of you will say “make your own group” which works sometimes, but other times it doesnt.
lmao funny, that happened yesterday….had a paladin tank, thought to myself “this will be great!” but he was wearing 4 green pieces still, and the rest wasnt even great blues.
Nope, I’ve had many very, very intelligent sources tell me that trash mobs in a 5man doing more damage than raid bosses is “working as intended” and “skill issue git gud”, therefor we should not nerf them.
Clearly blizz intends for us to skip heroics entirely and just raidlog T4, with how easy it is and it even gives way better gear than heroics.
Heroics are too hard for the content they provide.
Also, the reason no one wants to play tanks is cause Warriors and Bears suck in groups. They need to make it easier for them to hold agro and you would see more people willing to tank group pugs. The best time I ever saw in WoW for getting tanks into groups was during Cata era and that was cause they made it very easy to get and hold agro and do their jobs. So more people were willing.
Blizzard has never understood this and STILL on retail doesn’t understand it.
I intentionally do not run heroics- and it makes it so I do not log on when I would otherwise love to do so and engage with the game. I’d love to store up nethers and badges, but event at 1600+ it’s miserable and a crazy time commitment
These are not retail heroic dungeons. TBC was made to run them a certain way. for the ppl who want easier Heroics, do what the player base did back in 2007. change what you are doing if its not working. solve to puzzle. these heroics are not made like WoD and later dungeons. dont try to run them like a home invasion just hitting them and running to the next boss
Its not about being great. Its about be 1700+ GS with BiS gear as a prot pal and healers cant keep me up. Heroics are busted. Plus prot pals just suck in surviving in TBC.
I’ve been pugging heroics regularly since I hit 70 ~2 weeks into TBC; pretty much all pugs of varying gear levels and I rarely see this whole instagibbed can’t stay alive stuff people keep posting about. Yeah, it happens…and it’s usually when they are face tanking 3-4 mobs.
I even did a SHH with a fresher paladin/healer combo who didn’t know the dungeon that well and after the first two pulls where he overpulled and the healer tried to use slow heals they just adapted to regular sized pulls and fast heals. And yes, we got them their trial done.
TBC Heroics were designed to be run with CC and prioritizing targets.
In later phases you can just pull packs in Heroics and kill them, it was this way in 2007 as well (pre-pre-nerf btw). At this point in the game you should be thinking about kill/CC priority. As a tank you should be paying attention to the mobs that will destroy you if not killed quickly or CC’d.
The power creep is significant in TBC. We aren’t there yet. These Heroics get trivialized a good bit once people are collecting the more powerful Raid/Badge/PVP gear that come in the next phases. Basically this gets solved by the power increase that is coming. Also GS doesn’t matter in Classic or TBC - you wear the best items for what you are doing as a tank.
Yes, T4 and Heroics are what you farm in preparation for T5 content which has much stronger and deadlier trash mobs then any TBC Heroics. You do become much stronger In full T5.
