We had the tools back then, it was just massive effort and mechanics required.
Now we don’t have the tools, especially for DPS (for guardian) so we try to make up for it the best we can with pots, enchants, trinkets and heavy consumable use, on top of putting in the effort to do every mechanic to the last detail without the same powers we had before that the challenges were built around. That’s not even mentioning the whack scaling Timewalking has always struggled with.
So how is it not right that complaints now are more understandable and warranted than complaints back then?
I went into the Guardian Druid MT challenge with full Shadowlands gear (ilvl 250) and could not even kill the adds in P1.
I farmed the trinkets, followed the gearing recommendations, and I now can clear P1 without even using the orbs (only for emergencies).
However, in P2 even when I pop everything, its pretty much still a sh1tshow. 12% is my best attempt.
I probably can clear it in another 50-60 attempts, but I am thinking of just quitting this stupid challenge. I do not get a good feeling while doing the MT. WoW rarely makes me feel good compared to FFIV does (which is regularly).
This is the worst treadmill Blizzard has made, worse than in Legion. MT in Legion got easier as your gear got better. This version is so bad.
I was gonna say I feel like 600+ attempts is unrealistic and I am calling BS on it, if by 100 attempts you haven’t killed it yet then its no longer a matter of nerfing it again its a matter of your not doing something correctly, inevitably turning it into a skill problem. So nerfing it isn’t going to make it better, if your not getting better at it after 600 attempts
Just nudging in here to say I realize its none of my business, but try and go easy on yourself, alright? I realize its very frustrating to be so focused on something and not having it work out over and over and over.
When this was current I did it on Guardian, Prot and Brew (not in a row). Did Brew the day before the end of the event and cussed out Kruul in all-caps in guild chat like a madwoman.
The reason I’m saying this is because if you go too hard on something it can backfire on you. When the Lucid Nightmare mount came out for solving the puzzle games, I thought the maze had to be done all in one sitting, so I made myself sit too long so I wouldn’t loose my progress (I didn’t learn otherwise because I was so determined to get it that I did this like the day the news came out on how to do it) and wished after that I had listened to my body and just taken it down a notch.
So good luck and all that stuff—but be sure to take a breath and a step back and take care of yourself–and this goes for everyone else reading it, too.
It got easier because you got more gear not skill, btw you need wild charge and galactic guardián is way better for handling Variss and sometimes eyes in a Rush situation.
Because MT is a CHALLENGE about skill the price are the cosmetics and mount for players skilled enough, this is not a seasonal cake walk, you need to practice and wipe many times to learn the fight, the first time I tried I died in 10 seconds, after 109 tries I was able to complete it, so it’s about patience and learning not wiping and crying.
I haven’t got it yet but I have got him to like 6k hp twice. Every single death had been player error. That’s egtvi like it so much. If there are bugs of interrupts not working etc then they need to fox the bugs. They don’t need to nerf it though.
I’m already annoyed they have nerfed it as much as they have soni won’t get the satisfaction of the proper full kill.
Holy moly 600 pulls you sir deserve a determination stack
Are you living the 4th annihilate and still can’t beat the DPS check? I found it pretty trivial honestly, I wasn’t really even paying attention to the boss health I was so focused on living the annihilate and not whiffing my kick or being knocked into Narnia. After I skin + survival instincts the 4th annihilate I looked up to check the boss HP and he was like 3% or something and just fell over.
600 attempts is a possibility for some people but those people don’t realize the diminshing returns they are having with their efforts. When you are cultivating a skill or challenge trying to brute force it isn’t always the solution. I personally need to step away because as I do challenges I begin to psyche myself out and then come back and one shot it. For example when I did the beast master challenge I had everything down but at the end of my attempts I just wasn’t focusing properly on interrupting with frost trap and fear beast. When I came back the next morning I one shot it because I was able to come back refreshed and focused. To be honest 4 of the challenges - bear, BM, fury, ret - I came back and one shot after I night of putting in attempts because I was able to focus on the strategies I had set up.
Though of course there are just people that don’t have any intention of learning from mistakes and think they can brute force these challenges. This isn’t the case at all and personally I wouldn’t enjoy the challenges if you could. I like wiping and changing tactics and seeing what comes of those changes. It is why I loved the mage tower in legion. It is why I love the mage tower now. I enjoy seeing the fruits of my labour come out with rewards. Instant gratification is why I cease to enjoy retail wow and the only thing that draws me back are these solo type challenges.
I didn’t bother testing to see if there was a significant difference between dauntless and just generic legion stuff, but if you don’t mind me asking what is the difference?
That’s because a lot of them don’t care for the accomplishment, they care only for the skin, which is dumb. They don’t know how to react to the accomplishment of something difficult being achieved because blizzard keeps doing what the endless mobs say of “nerf, nerf nerf!” rather than trying to get better skills and become better at the game.
I have an autoimmune disorder that impacts all of my joints, my hands especially. The knuckles swell, are stiff and are incredibly tender so my reaction times suffer because of it. It took me around 120 attempts and 200k in consumables. I’d still like to see it adjusted further so it’s easier for other people. There’s no reason for something that’s only awarding a cosmetic reward to be this difficult. But that’s just my opinion.
