This coming from someone who has mained hunter since Burning Crusade.
The current state of BM Hunters in PvP is a complete joke, with the DPS rotation primarily consisting of 2 buttons (cobra shot, barbed shot)-- with Cobra shot doing close to 40% of BM hunter’s damage.
BM also takes very little skill. You can win a game by simply spam pressing one button, even if you miss multiple traps (and the way arena works, you should have to land 90% of your CC to win the game), but we have BM hunters who can barely land a trap winning off just sustained damage (because spamming cobra shot is hard).
Proposed Solutions:
Obviously nerf BM in PvP situations.
Nerf BM hunter cobra shot damage, then buff some other aspect of their rotation (maybe kill command) so that all their damage isn’t coming from one button. Most BM hunters just run a haste/vers build and don’t even kill command (what should be BM’s staple ability)
Buff survival and MM hunters to keep hunters viable (and a majority of players find these specs more fun to play due to BM’s lackluster rotation)
Personally I’d love to see survival and marksman hunters become the meta specs again. BM is just so incredibly boring.
Lol go push one button and get rank 1 as bm. I want to watch you. Please stream it. Remember only hit cobra shot if I see you press another button your point is invalid.
Your the type of person that zones in on your own bad play then projects in random directions not even elaborating on the real problem while trying to get someone else’s favorite spec banned.
Now if you came constructive and said venthyr talents in the bm tree are to strong and offered certain fixes for that you might have had others agree.
Venthyr bm does not need traps to land kills 50% of the time. This is bad design I agree. But as necro bm I definitely have to land 90% of the time just to kill.
Saying BM isn’t strong because you chose one of the worst covenants is flawed logic. Your rotation consists of 2 buttons. It’s literally the most braindead spec in the game.
BM venthyr is the busted one is the point. Its the reason why you can kill without trap. If your to one sided to see that was the point then why should anyone read your post. Does bm need tuning no, does the venthyr covenant moves for bm need adjustments yes. I’m not even remotely salty. Just don’t want blizzard getting the idea that what your saying is the correct way to fix bm. As you’ve offered zero intellectual ways of fixing the real existing problem which is venthyr being to strong atm. Kill shot procs and some of the damage modifiers are the problem not bbs base tool kit. Stop missing points and realize we are in agreement venthyr bm is to strong. But we aren’t in agreement on which part of bm is to strong
My cobras seem to do more on plate from what I’ve seen. Could also be procs. I’ll have to test it later. Obviously with kill command on cd I spam cobra shot, but I’m not sure exactly what else they want us to do? If arcane shot was worth it I’d press it, but I’m not sure how one instant cast no cd ability is harder to press than another…
I feel my hunter actually has more bindings then the other four classes I play. The dps portion of BM is easy, but a good BM hunter will always be about the utility side of it.
Yes you’re doing it wrong. Kill command doesn’t do as much damage as cobra. You can still press it in certain situations say if your pet is getting kited and you need the charge but for the most part it’s just less dmg.
Also take into consideration that cobra extends your slow from concussive so if you apply it and use cobra you get extra globals from not having to reapply your slow which should be on most targets as much as possible.
If you remember correctly they did about the same damage prior to the buffs so when they reverted KC damage and buffed cobra they essentially made it a dead button
For one, good on you. Getting into PVP this expansion is a nightmare with how fast it is and I generally don’t recommend it unless you have a team of people able to run meta classes.
Second, it’s not really bait. BM hunter has always been pretty easy compared to other classes, especially with it being the only ranged that has 0 dps loss from movement. Asking that they do less damage to compensate is reasonable.
