Nerf AV and buff WSG already

Bringing back the old AV system would fix the issue completely as well. Theres a lot of things they could do to fix this situation.

This is the real issue. People have the ability to race to the end and fight the big boss without any issues at all. That should not be the case and it makes playing the battleground terrible.

Once upon a time, zerging AV, was akin to trying to make a mad dash across an untouched AQ.

It did not end well

The map is nerfed and the honor has been overbuffed for Classic. These honor were meant to be farmed up because you spent them on your entry level pvp gear. It worked for gearing up in tbc but it is clearly the wrong choice for ranking in classic.

Bringing back the old AV would do a lot to fix the issues.

“The giant sucking sound that is Alterac Valley” is definitely a problem. It’s made classic feel like retail.

The game is just
silent now. No world PVP, not nearly as many folks leveling alts or endgame dungeons.

I checked the big progression guilds and in some of them, over half the guild is just squatting in AV. They’d normally be raiding cities, creating UBRS runs, etc.

I’m not a fan of buffing WSG though. Battlegrounds need to be toned down in general.

Yeah probably best thing they could do is bring back the old AV and leave WSG as it stands, but I would bet my left lug nut they would never do this.

You know that’s not the truth. That little shortcut Alliance takes right after Balinda used to have an elite troll camp there. There was raid bosses at every cemetery, tower, field of strife
etc.

You’re being completely dishonest.

Easy solution, re roll alliance

Reroll alliance and experience the same exact boring AV from the other side of the map

From the classic demo, we learned that the riding system is the older race riding one, instead of the profession-esque system we have today in modern wow introduced in Patch 1.12.1. What was the train of thought behind this decision?

The modern riding system was introduced in one of the later 1.12 patches, and as we were discussing it, we felt this system was added to prepare the game for Burning Crusade, which had the ability to ride flying mounts.

For most of the history of WoW Classic, throughout 2004 and 2005, we had the older mount system. It just felt more authentic to that game, to use the older one instead of one that just laid the groundwork for another expansion.

This is blizzard’s reasoning for the mount system being what it is. Why is AV / cross faction BG’s being allowed to make the pvp / honor system so crappy when it wasn’t like this for like 90% of classic wow, if what you said about the mount system factors into your decision making?

Well, i think that’s part of the reason why Classic was made to begin with. It was low cost, but with a higher upside to boost retail subs - or at least to temporarily hide the sub “dips” during down periods. From what I can see it’s working. I’d venture most the people playing Classic, play retail.

no just add a timer to wsg and id run it.

How did they ruin it? Players chose to min-max in a game designed for casuals and got surprised that everyone doing so breaks the game.

That isn’t Blizzard’s fault in the slightest.

They made choices to revert things to an older state of vanilla because they felt that better represented how the game was for the majority of classic. The state of the current iteration of AV coupled with cross realm BG’s is making the experience no where near what it was in the majority of vanilla.

Question, did you play Korracks Revenge on Retail? If you did, you’d know it goes exactly the same way as this easier version of AV.

The Players are doing it, not the game.

It’s a different game now and people are more goal oriented, know the exact path to achieve those goals, and we also know the content that is coming so we can plan for it. This is the cause of the current AV / premade meta that is harming the game for many, unfortunately.

As people finish with the current content (ranking), they tend to either drop off or re-engage with different systems. Don’t lose hope though because a lot of people still want to continue playing in the long term to clear all the raids, etc. There may be a day when World PvP is much more active and we see things like city raids again on some servers. But it’s a terrible idea atm because of DHK’s and just lack of Honor efficiency.

It’s a goal oriented game with goal oriented players. For a true fantasy MMO experience, other games are probably better options, heh.

Allys are countdown qing this thing in retail and leaving 50-75% of the games to start with 10-15 alliance for the first 2-3 minutes causing them to just afk because they know they have 0 chance?

Well that happened in vanilla actually. I was referring to the zerg strat for AV.

In Vanilla, many many AV, WSG, and AB matches started at a disadvantage or got cancelled due to lack of players because of the same issue.

I ran with a half premade WSG last night and it was awesome. My honor per hour was nowhere as good but grouping with friends was great. I don’t expect them to change things but how great would it be if they did.

It would be awesome to group with friends and in WSG and have a fair advantage on both factions, but sadly WSG honor per hour doesn’t even come close to AV given the queue times.
