All gold from all players on all servers must be deleted with the launch of TBC. The reasons for this are solidly proven. Festering problems with an already screwed economy will only worsen if existing gold carries through to TBC.

They would need to do a lot more than simply wipe the gold, they would need to also 9month ban all the buyers and permanent ban the sellers.
Also they would need to delete all trade goods materials, non-soul bound items, and so on.
No good solution exists as a 1 time fix, and within the time it takes to get to 70 the gold farmers will be right back at it because blizzard isn’t aggressive enough to keep the cheaters, hackers, botters down.

The only viable ongoing solution is to crack down on gold buyers and sellers on a weekly basis. Without a strong aggressive stance on Banning Buyers and sellers nothing else matters. Deleting the work people put in the game is not the way.
Ban the buyers and sellers on weekly intervals and you will see the issue drastically reduced if not eliminated.
But blizzard has to take the action.

Banning buyers is a little more tricky than banning sellers. For instance let’s say I don’t like you, so I decide to buy your character enough gold to earn you a ban.
These problems have to be addressed at the source: bots/hackers.
Anyone whom started playing classic vanilla from day1 has at least 10k+. So if your a johnny come lately that wants everyone gold deleted bc you have 10s to your name then we should definitely cater to your whims.

That’s some conspiracy stuff right there.
The issue never was the gold. The issue was always how that gold was obtained. That is what needs to be addressed.
Players like myself who legitimately earned every copper should be able to carry it over. Punishing the real players for the actions of cheaters is frankly just asinine.

Since Bliz doesn’t care to isolate the dishonest, a total and complete nerf of all gold, right down to the last copper, is the only viable solution.
