For what is currently one of the worst dps specs in game right now, it’s more of a kick in the teeth to not be able to stack new weapon oils on top of flametongue/WF.
This would be such an easy change too…

No it’s not.
Huh
Why are you against Shaman being able to use alchemic oils? This seems like an oversight on the part of the devs.
Why is it an oversight? It’s been like this since before Vanilla released. Sharpening Stones, Weapon Imbues, and Rogue Poisons all were exclusive. It’s not something they’ve missed over the last 16 years, it’s how the game works.
Why do you want to waste time and money on consumables when you have a better option for free through your class/spec abilities?
Why are you so set on conspiracy theories revolving around Blizzz deliberately sabotaging classes/specs?
Are you an Alchemist?
Is the oil better than the imbued effect?
If you answered no to both of these then why would you even care?
Why would you want to pay money to apply something to your weapon that would cause you to do significantly lower dmg??
…wait you arent one of those OMG enhance must be 2H…that would totally make sense here.
I want to STACK oils with my imbues, panda. Whats you problem with that?
Yes it would be, and this expansion, the buff potions are stronger by 10-20% depending on the weapon oil you’re using. Basically enh shamans, and only enh shamans, are locked out of a really cool/entriely new mechanic for no other reason than wf being an imbue.
There’s quite literally no reason enh shamans shouldn’t be gated from using oils. Please do try and prove me wrong though, I’m up for a laugh.
I will bet you will do more damage than someone using an oil. But if you want to use an oil ust it on your offhand since windfury is a main hand imbue.
I didn’t realize that a mechanic from half way through Vanilla, that is entirely made up of using a consumable on an item, is “entirely new” or “really cool”, but… sure bud.
Where’s the math that Oils are 10-20% stronger than WF? A wet fart is stronger than FT, but I’d be curious for numbers there too just for completeness sake.
everyone complaining about not able to use oils and swords… and im sitting here still waiting for blizz to allow me to equip 2h weapons
no, 2h is still a bad idea and we should never go back.
I actually hadn’t thought of this, but I do find it disappointing. I don’t really understand the logic that class-based imbues and profession-based imbues are mutually exclusive. The former are part of the class package that is presumably balanced against other class packages; the latter are more of a distinct choice that are, maybe, balanced against other profession benefits.
My guess is that originally all imbues were just programmed that way and it’s just legacy, rather than deliberate policy, at this point. But I’ve no idea if Blizzard has directly addressed this before.
I fully agree. We won’t even be able to use new consumables as well because of this. Either let us use them, or let our enchantments count for the bonus to potions.
I honestly think it’s a developer oversight.
There’s no reason enh shamans shouldn’t have WF as a “passive” allowing us to use oils/etc.
haleluya, that’s some truth
tanking on the other hand, well the game could use more tanks
as for the rest of you, oversights are par for the course with shaman, good luck getting attention
I do not think this is an oversight. This is how it was when we had weapon oils and boosters before. Shamans could not use due to their class weapon imbues.
As for 2h weapons i think it should come back. But yes i think we should be given access to swords. And if we had a tank spec i would have no reason to play another class.
The Class extra shouldn’t be balanced around Core class packages.
I.E if you’re balancing say a Raid level warrior vs a Raid level enhancement shaman…
then you need to consider the fact that the shaman will have Battle shout and all the buffs and the warrior will have a Sharpening stone included in their package.
This means outside of raid content a Shaman won’t have Battle Shout without the use of a scroll (rip scrolls) and a Warrior won’t have imbues outside of the stones.
To you maybe.
On topic, this is another reason why imbues should of never returned in this form. There’s no choice, it’s a hindrance buff and now hindering us from using basics consumables,
How is it a hindrance?
YOu think Warriors/Priests/Mages are sad they can’t use scrolls and think of it as a hindrance?
Shaman and Mages haven’t been able to use drums since Wrath. Is that a hindrance?
Yes we are loosing out of a potion effect + oil combo that is new this expansion. But guess what: we have imbues that actually interact with our talents and legendries instead.
Edit: I’m actually going to be doing some tests of [Shadowcore Oil] vs flametongue. Like windfury beats any of the oils by a long shot. Flametongue on the otherhand…
