The ticket system is ridiculous now, whatever happened to just connecting you with someone! I have one issue and I’ve spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to contact someone/report it since its not on the “list of options” given.
My character is saying in combat even though its not, I’ve tried completely closing out the game twice now and booting back up but its still saying in combat. It won’t let me do anything, not even log out, I’ve had to use task manager both times to exit the game. How do I submit this ticket to get it fixed?
Thats more a bug than something you would need a gm to fix. Id post in the bug report forums or use the in game option then stay off that toon for 15-20 minutes for a soft reset if logging off or running really far isnt fixing it.
As Praetorian mentioned-- because what you’re inquiring about isn’t something a GM has the tools available to help with. It’s been a lingering bug for quite some time that they have yet to nail down.
Will definitely second posting in the Bug Report forums, and if you can recall details like time, zone, last enemy fought, that might help.
The ticket system I remember just connected you with someone right away to ask, kinda like this but without taking you to the forums. It was actually why I was getting frustrated cause just needed to ask someone on it XD
No problem its why this forum is here, and using Teufelgott’s suggestion might be the fastest resolution, then hearthing and finally staying off the character for a bit.
By the time I logged back on it was working fine again, alas I did not get to try offing my char lol. But I’ll keep it in mind should it happen again! Thank you everyone for your help
I find it usually happens if I have a minion/follower/pet with me and pass by a mob that is “sleeping”. The minion/follower/pet appears to agro the sleeping mob. If it happens again, try killing a mob or two near where you are. It sometimes helps.
sometimes with these, a buff will be provided that can be removed and causing the minion/follower/pet to despawn. I’d be removing all buffs before going on a nude run. But then again I’m kinda shy…
There are a few things that can cause this, including a corrupted UI.
If this happens a lot - everywhere, I’d suggest a proper reset UI.
If you have to force quit, it is important to stay offline long enough for your character to actually auto-log. I suspect that didn’t happen initially, which is why you were still in combat. Your character is standing in-game, in combat, you log back on, and yes, you are still going to be in combat.
Sometimes a pet can attract attention, sometimes a creature can be under the world (although this doesn’t happen nearly as often as it once did), sometimes a UI corruption can make this happen.
An alternative would be to run out of the area until combat drops. If it continues over an extended period, that points more to a UI thing, or a critter underneath the world, otherwise what had you in combat would leash.
It’s a known bug. There was a thread in the bug report forum where Blizzard was asking folks to provide specific details about where and when it was occurring to help address the bug.
This has happened to me a couple times in Mechagon. I hopped into the dungeon portal at Rustbolt, then out. If there’s an instance portal nearby, you can try that, as well.
