Need some Advice

I am going to preface this topic by saying that I am aware of some real-life issues affecting my perception and actions, but I would like some advice on the more technical side of the issue as it relates to the game.

I have a problem where I start a new WoW account anywhere between 1-2 weeks to a couple days after making it. Most of my accounts do not make it past 10 days, with my characters ranging from 1-40ish. For me, there is a compulsion to have perfect achievements (I can only have 1 character get achievements per account for it to feel “perfect”), the right transmog, the right race and class combo, the right way my character looks, etc… I am aware these “conditions” that cause me to start over are rooted in absolute terms; very black or white, it has to be this way or that based on my own screwed up perception. That is a problem I struggle with daily that I am working to fix. However, my question for Blizzard is, for someone like me, what is the best course to play the game? Is there any solution anyone can come up with to enjoy the game but not go broke over paying $15 every 3 days? I dont think there is a way to wipe out achievements and start over on the same account, but feel brand new? I dont know…I know it is primarily related to me and outside of the game issues, but I just wonder if you guys have any advice for a customer who really enjoys your game, just in a really, weird way. I hope this isn’t out of character for this forum, but I didn’t really see any other options. Any advice would be great, thanks

There is no way to reset an account the way you’re asking, no.

But there’s also no onus on you to pay for an account until you get a character to level 20; every game license started is free until that point. You are going to have to deal with the restrictions that come with the Starter Edition, but at least at that point you can make the conscious decision whether or not to continue after that.

I suppose another way you could look at it is just to not open the achievements pane as much as you want. Achievements and their rewards are, for the most part, now account-bound, but there’s something to be had for the satisfaction of seeing the animation and “jingle” pop up every time an alt completes an achievement that has previously been obtained by another character on that license.

I see what your saying. I am out of work due to other issues as well, so I spend a decent time playing as it makes me happy. Unfortunately 1-20 goes by in a day for me and it is the same content over and over. Once I reach 20 and have done what the starter edition can do, I convince myself to buy up to legion. Something usually goes wrong after that and then I start over and do it again.

This all seems so strangely familiar. You don’t, by any chance, prefer to play with your dad, do you?

I do play with my dad why?

Was just a hunch. I think we (the CS forum) may have met him yesterday.

Well, I dont know what my Dad posts about, but I am just looking for some advice regarding my options for multiple accounts…

Could you, instead of starting a new account, start on a different server? Might be one way to save yourself some money?

Turn on the setting for achievements show only on the specific character in the in game UI.

I dont know how to thank you enough for this information. It might be something that resolves an issue my son has had for over a year now.

After he woke me up to tell me about this (yes its part of his issues where he cant sleep and cannot understand other peoples need for it when in a manic phase), I went back to bed later with tears in my eyes. It matters to both his and my quality of life that much. I am hoping tonight I can sleep in more than 2 hours and/or 2xs in one night. The last week has been incredibly difficult and I hope this will be enough to keep him happy and allow me some time alone and or sleep.

I am not being trying to be extreme or sucking up when I say you are a hero and I wish more people were like you and willing to put just an ounce of effort into helping their fellow humans.

THANK YOU!

VYou don’t necessarily need to stop at level 20 on a starter account. Once you hit 20, you start banking XP and can bank up to 10 levels of XP.

Then, when the account is converted to a paid account, the banked XP is immediately applied and your character will be auto leveled up to the amount of banked XP it has.

A downside to that however is until he purchases the full game, he’s still stuck at level 20 and thus still blocked off from experiencing further content which is why he’s been buying the full game each time instead of doing trials.

I’m glad I was able to help. Comments like these make it worth my time volunteering here.
