i got a win in the 1400+ bracket in arenas, but dropped to 1350… can i buy my weapon tomorrow and upgrade it to combatant or should I buy tonight (i.e. does bracket reset per week)

I think you’ll need to buy it tonight and upgrade it fully.

your upgrade bracket isn’t time based. If your third loss in a row is below your most recent bracket, you will be demoted and will have to reach that bracket (1400 in your case) again before you can upgrade to it.

you can tell what bracket you’re in by the icon on your rated pvp page

Upon reset he’d still need a win in the appropriate bracket though, yeah?

Nah it’s based on your rating for the previous week.

if you buy it tomorrow you will NOT be able to upgrade it until you get a win above 1400.

No. If he got a 1400 win this week he could upgrade after reset.

no. that was changed in 9.1.

No. 9.1 changed it so that you can only upgrade based on your rating the previous week. This might not be intentional, but in every reset since 9.1 dropped, I’ve started the week with conq capping in unrated pvp and then buying/upgrading a piece to duelist. I know what I’m talking about here.

If that’s working for you, then it’s definitely not intentional.

Also, that has NOT worked for me. If i cap in 2s (not duelist) I wont be able to upgrade to duelist until i win a game in 3v3.

I don’t think Blizz ever implemented that change idk. On my alt druid I got 1800 in the first week then never played an arena game again but all the 0/5 items I bought in the last weeks I could upgrade to 4/5.

Guess it’s a bug where playing unranked games doesn’t reset your upgrade limit for the week but playing ranked games does?

Basically it seems like the upgrade system is bugged right now. Your pvp gear upgrade limit doesn’t actually reset to “unranked” every week. So if you get a certain rating and then never play a rated game again, you’re able to upgrade all conquest gear to that rating regardless of how much time passes.
