Need help with Pawn add on for Frost DK

Okay so my main is a frost DK and Pawn addon keeps recommending me tank gear as upgrades. Obviously I know what gear is an actual upgrade, but it’s still annoying to deal with. Pawn is a great addon for literally every other alt I play, but is garbage for my main.

After doing some research, I know that you can manually configure “weights” on Pawn settings, but I’m terrible with all that customization/math stuff. Is anyone able to help me out? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Not really one. It’s easier to just use the unholy weights — they’re similar enough for a first glance with Pawn for a new piece of gear.

Technically, your weights change with every gear swap l, and you should be running sims if you want to find exact values.

When all else fails though I use wowheads stat weights. It’s close.

Item db → search → stat weights : frost dk

If you understand your weights and know pawn is wrong, just dont use it? It wont make it harder to figure out if something is an upgrade.

The solution is to not use Pawn.

It’s a bad addon for upgrades. If you know your weights, you’re already better than that addon.

The default weights for pawn erroneously set Frost to tank and Blood to dps

Can you give me a direct link to the page on wowhead that shows stat weights? All I’ve been able to find is stat priority, which isn’t the same thing, and I don’t know how to convert that to actual weights that you can use with Pawn.

I have the same issue as OP. I just ended up using the Blood recommendations from Pawn, since it thinks Blood is dps anyway. I hadn’t thought of using Unholy recs (silly, I know… I just pretty much pretend UH doesn’t exist LOL, so maybe that’s why).

Wowhead is only as good as the person making the guide. I’m lucky to have Simonize, who puts in a lot of work for it.

For dks, I’d suggest using the Blight Club discord where all the magic dents go to discuss Morb and weights.

God there is so many Morb memes.

pawn should be removed from the game. i had a mage roll on the melee dps ring in Headless Horseman because pawn told her it was an upgrade. people should know what stats are upgrades for them instead of relying on an addon to tell them.

Okay sure, I get that, but I only solo and it’s just easier to use Pawn to give me a quick answer. Easy to blame the tools, but it’s idiots who misuse them that are the issue.

Wowhead wotlk → database → item

Scroll down a bit under filters and you’ll see ‘stat weightings’

Click it and choose ‘dk - frost dps’

Search, then view the weights

You’ll have to fix the url:
wowhead/wotlk/items/weights:250:249:248:247:119:117:114:103:96:77:32:21:20/weight-values:41.6:41.6:41.6:100:1.25:1.25:1.25:1.25:1.25:1.25:62.5:0.625:2.6

Thank you! I didn’t know I could do that with wowhead. TIL

Here is my guide for Pawn:

Step 1. Don’t install Pawn
Step 2. If you have Pawn, delete it

Jokes aside, it’s a really bad addon for Classic, since it isn’t sim based. It’s a total noob trap, and it causes people to take what they shouldn’t, and not take what they should.

Stat prios are dead simple in Classic. People should just learn them.

exactly. you should know what your class needs. then just get more of that.

Yo thank you so much! You’re a literal lifesaver

google wowsims wotlk

Click your class/spec
Click export in the top right
Select Pawn EP
Copy the string and paste it in pawn
voila

Also, turn off the percentages in pawn. They’re useless. Instead only use the EP ratings to compare gear. Use whichever is higher.

They have addons that tell you what gear is better than another? lol. Talk about braindead players.

While leveling, sometimes your gear is so bad that tank gear is an upgrade.
