My spriest friends say ret counter them and my ret friends say spriest counters them. Who’s right?
Traditionally paladins suffer vs casters. A shadow priest is a counter because of their rot, purge and mass dispel of their divine shield. Utterly rendering their major defensive(s) useless. As a holy pally dispelling their dots micro cc’s us as well.
if ur talking about cata classic u might be correct.
On retail ret is a counter to sp due to blessing of sanctuary + judge dispel + disease dispel.
Md cast on retail is way too long while also having too long of a cd to be a counter to bubble and you cannot purge magic bop

Is it possible they’re both right in a team setting?
If you saw the other team has a ret, would you bring in a spriest on your team? If you saw the other team has a spriest, would you bring in a ret on your team?
Maybe both specs make each other miserable.
Are they talking in a 1v1 or arena comp situation? Sp would deff think ret counters if they facing ret/war all the time.
I could see the ret feeling same way if he’s playing cupid and facing splay alot. Reality is the partners have more affect in it.
MM Cupid with hpriest or rsham shouldn’t lose to any variation of splay ever
Probably true, I don’t play MM and that isn’t cupid that is an abomination lol.
Not to mention the addition of magic bop this expac, yet another crazy stop into the right team.
Edit: nvm, saw you mentioned it at the end of your post
Appreciate it!
I agree in spirit but my friend when did Cupid get a spear and a grappling hook
Legion, and ever since then the spear/grappling hook hunter has been the healthiest version of the class for the game.
I hate seeing Ret on my SP, love seeing SP on my Ret. The one caster that can’t get away from me.
Why do they have to counter each other? It depends on the comp tho and even they I wouldn’t call them counters.
