First just wanted to thank the Blizz team for listening to the community and opening up transfers as well as allowing players the ability to move to so many new destinations including servers like Benediction and Faerlina that have that “mega server feel”. It’s certainly gave a new breath to the game for myself and other players I’m sure.
So regarding the topic my guild and I transferred from a low pop realm to high pop realm just recently. In fact our goal was to have our first raid on the new server Tues Nov 9th.
Our last raid on our original server was Thurs Nov 4th. So during the time line of Nov 4th. through Nov 8 and up to Nov 9th players in my guild moved their toons over.
On Nov 9th that evening a Blue post went up informing players of impending free server transfers. Now as you can imagine and I’m sure this has happen to many and maybe not even the first (its not for me) how bad it feels to spend upwards of $100 or even more on transfers only to see them open up for free days after the fact.
As I hinted at previously I’ve been in this situation before and sadly I’ve just had to eat the loss and that’s fine. However, the root of the issue and why this time seems to be different is that some players in my guild have had success in gaining refunds while others have not and each reply that is given whether accepted or decline the needle mark for start and ending seems to be moving from each CS rep that replies.
Given the scenario above is it possible to have some Blue clarification on this matter?
Thanks in advance
Clarify one thing - Yes we were on a server selected to receive free transfer services and yes we moved to one of the approved destination servers listed.
I would guess that if it was from a server to a server that is currently available for free you might have a chance, otherwise they will probably come up with some copy-paste bullish telling you how its not gonna happen sadly
Our Refund Policy can be found on our website now.
We have a section of that policy that outlines World of Warcraft game services specifically.
World of Warcraft Game Services
We’ll refund certain World of Warcraft services within three days of purchase. Examples include:
Race, Name, or Faction Changes
Character Transfers
Guild Name Changes
A refund will revert the service your character or guild received.
I cannot speak for all of those who have requested refunds or the responses they may have received, but it is possible that their services were performed more than 3 days before the refund request.
As an example: Your request was approved because the order was completed on November 9th and your request was made on November 10th (even though you did not follow-up and finalize the request until the 17th). Had you originally requested your refund on the 17th, it likely would have been denied.
This will of course vary greatly by the type of product being offered, and how that product can be used.
An example from our Refund Policy:
Games and Expansions
We refund paid games or expansions within 14 days of purchase, as long as you haven’t played for more than two hours.
A lot could be completed with a character transfer to a new realm in 10-14 days. That’s a couple of resets you’d be able to participate in. So for some services, the amount of time is different.
For Character Transfers, the time limit to submit a refund request is 3 days.
If you would like to see a change enacted, you’ll need to take this to the General Discussion forums or make use of the in-game suggestion interface. (I personally will be so very glad when people stop trying to use the weight of the ‘climate’ of things to justify them getting their way in things.) Kalviery is not a GM that handles tickets nor are they a Dev or those folks who makes the decisions. And those folks, they do not come here to collect data.
Technically speaking all digital sales are final, but they do try to work with folks. Unfortunately, some of your folks fell outside of the window given here. It’s a risk that there is always the chance that a sale will drop, or in this case - free server transfers. There isn’t really any way to win no matter how they try to wing this.
I’m not trying to debate you at all and I do appreciate the time and level of attention you’ve given to the matter however, we’ll have to agree to disagree.
Given the scenario I outlined above we’re dealing with a time line of 5 maybe 6 days, MAX some could possibly be hours.
To your point though, not even a full reset. In addition we’re talking about a paid service for a game that requires a monthly sub.
Again, can’t thank you enough for your time and attention to this topic. It is very much appreciated regardless of outcome.
Aye, I absolutely understand and can relate - no one likes being told no when requesting a refund, but there does need to be a limit put on it - we can’t just continue to inch it out further and further. For consistency we also need to try and apply that limit to everyone in the same way.
This topic does come up a lot around sales and promotions. Hopefully having this public refund policy available will help folks manage expectations when seeking a refund.
It’s my pleasure Alexea. I am sorry it wasn’t the result you were looking for. I hope you have a good day all the same!
