Except that happened with personal loot too. The end result is no different.
People who weren’t going to use the gear or want it for disenchantment won items all the time.
The loot system doesn’t fix anything

You should probably just stop while you’re laughably behind. Like sure, a green-geared top 0.01% player is still going to lose on the DPS meter over a literal BIS semi competent player, but simply having gear and no skill means players will literally do something like ~10-20% of their potential DPS. The sheer number of players who do tank level single target damage is proof enough of this.
The actual fact of the matter is that it is far more likely that a really geared player is also pretty decently good too because in order to get the good gear, they had to be at least better than basic mouth breathers to get the bosses/content down that dropped that gear in the first place.
In an run this morning, I saw DPS who didn’t die pulling shadowlands numbers.
You know what? You’re right, however at least it was the system doing the rolling and my chances were still a lot better.
On top of that: no one had to wait on people to roll.
With the changes Bliz is going to implement, it should fix a lot of the problems. There’s going to come a time where less and less people actually are working on their 4 piece bonus.
See, I don’t mind people working on their 4 piece bonuses trying to get their token. That’s not the problem for me, because I’ve used LFR like that in the past.
It’s too early in the tier for people to be rolling on things because it looks pretty. There’s straight up people trying to get their bonuses losing rolls because people are rolling for DE or because it’s pretty.
You and I both know that would never fly in a normal raid environment if there’s people that legit need the gear.
It does. It takes out the perception of highly geared players “need” rolling on a piece of gear 80% of the raid group could use as an upgrade to advance their progression, possibly to higher level raiding. It removes the stigma of seeing these same players rolling need on an item that is just a piece of costume jewelry for their character to play dress up.
Thats how PL would fix this problem. It would be the computer rolling and not greedy Xmog hunters of higher ilvl from rolling need in front of the entire raid, leaving a really bad taste in their mouths, leading to possibly quitting, adding to an already declining population.
So your “solution” to the problem of players rolling need on items that are not upgrades, is to not only force everyone to roll need on everything, but also scrap the protections that exist to try and push the loot towards the people for whom it’s an upgrade?
Because PL would result in MORE LFR loot going to the people who clear higher difficulties and don’t get upgrades from LFR.
I use to run it for runes and the bag, but now…
nope
Yeah right, more will go to the higher geared.
LMAO!
Sounds like you want communism in WoW
You want to remove all protections that prevent that from happening. At best for you, it would have no effect. More likely, is that people who already have normal+ tier getting LFR tier would go up from 0 which is GL post bug fix.
Selective quoting, you should be a journalist.
That may be one of the worst analogies I’ve ever heard.
I work for a major medical company. We have had “employee appreciation” weeks with raffles for prizes. Could some employees really really use that Amazon gift card for $500? Yeah. Might some corporate guy with a 6 figure salary win it instead? Possibly.
So what? It was never promised to anyone and who it goes to and what they plan to do with it is irrelevant. I’m not going to get upset that someone won it and spent it on a ps5 when I needed it for a dental appointment. That’s just bizarre and nonsensical.
The summary of this problem is this: who should be priority, transmoggers or item upgraders? LFR is made up of people who do both. Those Mythic raiders are there strictly for the transmog and they’re an important part of what makes LFR work. If you say to them they have to stand in line behind item upgraders they won’t be there.
We didn’t have this problem with personal loot because if you got something it was yours. NBG has merely surfaced something that was always an issue. I don’t know what the solution is but group loot in LFR seems to be making nobody happy.
My answer is neither. Everyone who contributes should have the same shot as everyone else in LFR.
Have you ever had a corporate job lol, this is basically every higher-up in every company ever. They make money they don’t need while I scrounge for a paycheck they think they’re helping me earn.
Master loot was never implemented in LFR, try again level 10.
You just think it’s a bad analogy because you disagree with the overall premise of my original argument. Your opinion is hardly unbiased.
If I am in a sweepstakes and it comes down to me and a billionaire over who wins the $5,000 giveaway, I’m not entitled to that money just because the other person in the contest doesn’t “need” it.
Also, your LFR runs are smoother and more successful the more you have those random decked out raiders in there.
The system still does the rolling and your odds didn’t change, unless you could the fact that some people may greed or pass, which increases your chances.
You still don’t have to wait. Hit the button and move on with your day. If you win it’ll come in the mail if you’ve left the run.
That’s the difference in working with friends towards a long term goal and doing something for 30 mins with people you’ll never see again.
Like if everyone spends $1 on a lottery ticket and whoever wins has to give the winnings to the person with the least $. Just c’mon now.
Nobody, everyone should have a n equal chance.
It is NOT ok to need everything for most guild runs or they will KICK you, but is OK to need form people that needs gear in LFR. WOW double standards is a real joke.
Not the same thing so not a double standard. A guild run is a team. You actively hurt the team taking everything. LFR is individual. You are never going to see any of those players again.
