Need before Greed: Why causals and solo players quit

I think, and I am no raider FOR SURE, so lets get that out there…maybe they should put restrictions on LFR only…
if you out gear LFR by 5-10 ilvls, you can no longer run it on THAT toon…would slow down a lot of these complaints. Maybe wouldn’t stop them, but would slow them down.
While people ‘should’ have better scruples than that, they don’t, humans will do what humans will do. Mog hunters ‘should’, in principle, be creating another toon, keep it at lower ilvl all the time, and run LFR until they get all the pieces they want…but that’s probably too much to ask.
As a 2nd thought tho, you can get better gear out in open world by doing the storms, so I am not sure why 376 ilvl is that big of a deal?

JMP…and opinions are like noses, everyone has one.

How many rings from the nine did your guild disenchant/vendor before you saw the items people actually wanted from that boss?

It would also slow down LFR and make it an absolute slog because nobody would run it because they’d be ineligible. /shrug

LoL, that boss drops other loot!?

Yeah, then the complaints would shift to LFR taking too long and multi-hour queues.

I don’t get the logic of not allowing certain people to roll on loot. If I go into lfr for transmog how is that different then someone going into lfr for gear for any other reason?

Some guy with 400 ilvl was in a run last night, got done with the dragon event at the beginning, and then proceeded to pull every one of the remaining molten giant trash mobs right to the first boss. Was kind of funny but this is the quality of “help” that a lot of overgeared people bring to LFR.

I think PvE looting in general is just bad because there were plenty of posts like this over personal loot.

PvP on the other hand lets you target exactly what you want over a relatively short period of time. You know you’ll have bis wep in 2-3 weeks if you want it, whereas in raid you might kill Sylv 30 times and never get the dagger.

Ive seen soooo many pointless wipes caused by overgeared sorts who think they cant be killed…or theyre watching that idiotic Details and dont care if they cause a wipe. Either way they make the game miserable enough to not bother risking being grouped with one of them.

hmmm…maybe…but
not if people really wanted that mog…they would then create another toon, …gear it only good enough to run LFR, and keep it at that ilvl, until they get all the mog they wanted…thats what I would do…but thats me…
neither here nor there to me, lol, haven’t looked at a raid since legion. just trying to be helpful…in thought

Solo and Casuals leave for one reason amount of fun per time. WoW takes to much time to do anything. Let me just find a M+ and deal with prejudice hell sometimes full on sexist and racist chat to find something to do. It will take anywhere up to a hour sometimes never. If they don’t like you after the leader takes a blood test and urine sample from you. Or I can just play another game and in a hour have 4 to 5 rounds of pve or pvp fun.

Then you get me on my 370 alt who’s keeping up with or just flat beating people 10-15 ilvls higher in damage.

That seems unfair. Why should I need to roll 2 of the same toon to get the transmog color I want for the crime of doing harder content?

You will not get BiS but as a causal player you can do just what you said with the primal gear and rep gear. For the content I do, I think my gear is pretty good.

Or they would just queue in naked or some such thing. People aren’t going to spend umpteen hours gearing yet another alt of the same type. A better solution IMO is just award badges like PvP for LFR participation. Better participation awards more up to a maximum of, lets say, 10. Blizz then lets you just buy the gear you want, everybody gets what they want eventually, and nobody cares.

Yeah, it all depends on goals/interests. :dracthyr_yay_animated: I know that when I exclusively did solo/casual/alt content the last thing I was fretting about was dungeon/raid gear because I didn’t need it to do anything I was doing.

I think a better question is: “Why are we paying a monthly sub for blizzard to take a terrible loot system and make it even worse?”

They did PvE badges, and did not like the effects it had on players, so they removed them.

Which were? I’m genuinely curious. Also I was applying this to LFR only.

This falls under the “none of your business” reason. They probably want it for transmog or even just to feel like they got something for their time and effort doing the run. You didn’t win the roll and geared people do not exist to funnel you gear.

You can go run mythic+ dungeons and get better loot than LFR gives just like they did. You can pug or find a guild to raid with just like they did. Your “need” for gear is every bit as suspect. Are you going to do harder content or are you just going to use it to do world quests and/or more LFR? Why do you need it when you already are capable of killing things?

I’m 100% fine with you wanting gear. Hell I’d even support a solo casual slow as frick grindy path to mythic raid quality loot because I feel everyone should have a path to greater rewards and not have to rely on group content to do it…so long as the easiest path is also the slowest and longest path…but never am I going to support geared people being forced to be funnel gear slaves who are actively punished for gearing up by not being able to obtain things if a “lesser” person happens to exist in their vicinity.

If I did LFR, which I won’t, I’m rolling need on stuff I want. I don’t care about your needs and clearly you don’t care about mine. You’re nothing to me just like I am nothing to you. Why should I be forced to spend my time and gold with absolutely no upsides to me? I’m fine losing a roll. I’m not fine with not being “allowed” to roll.

It’s like a weird Uno reverse has been played where now people are who used to push PL because anyone who was part of the kill should have a chance at loot are now actively trying to remove that functionality from GL.
