Need an answers on Heirlooms

There is also one heirloom ring obtainable from the stranglethorn fishing tournament every Sunday (https://www.wowhead.com/item=50255/dread-pirate-ring)

Oh yeah, and when you open your heirloom collection, you just click on the heirloom to ‘create’ it. So even if you’re a class who uses two swords or daggers or trinkets, you only need to buy one of each to get them in your collection. (Right click the heirloom in your bag after you buy it, and it goes to your heirloom collection. Then press shift-P and click the heirlooms tab to view your heirloom colection.) Then you can open the collection page, create the sword or dagger or trinket twice, and wield/wear both of them. And since the upgrade is done in the collections window, whatever you create from that collections window will be that upgrade level. And maybe you just have to delete the one in your inventory that you had before you upgraded and then equip the upgraded one.

Don’t waste your gold, they’re removing the exp buff from them in Shadowlands

I don’t think so. Pretty sure they update automatically.

While it’s true that you can just create heirlooms from the collections page, it’s nice to enchant the weapons and just mail them.

They’ll still be useful in shadowlands, just the upgrade difference will be between common and epic quality instead of specific levels. And epic quality will spare time and energy upgrading off the AH everytime your killing and xp/minute start slowing down.

And if he’s just getting a set to level a couple toons faster until then, it’s not all that costly. Like one paragon chest buys 8 heirlooms. And/or spam silas stash quests if strapped for gold, or by 1 single wow token if strapped for time.

I did this for one set and am interested to see how it carries over in shadowlands. That was a tricky bastard thing to work out. I had to do the pandaren enchant on my heirloom shoulders from like a level 90 alt so the heirloom shoulders would be in the correct range. But mark of the hidden satyr on the neck piece is hillarious damage when it procs, and getting bfa enchants on weapons, wod enchants on rings, and whatever on other stuff. Stuff I read about in shadowlands says we’ll be able to purchase heirloom enchantments to enchant the heirlooms in our collections and pull enchanted heirlooms out of our collections. I’m looking forward to seeing that. And something else about purchasing sockets for our heirlooms in the heirloom collections… wouldn’t be surprised if 3rd socket cost 200k gold though…

edit: think I got that info from a reddit page, but seemed reliable for some reason I forget.

Sure will! But how useful? I’ll wait till Blizz says what the new buffs will be. Anything short of an equivalent amount of power = to 50% xp gains will make them less useful than they are now.

Please don’t do this, they cost an absurd amount of gold and blizzard are removing the XP boost on them in Shadowlands. That 10 levels isn’t worth it, can easily be dragged from 110-120 in a few hours.

As Varian has said a couple times, it isn’t a level range anymore, but a quality level, the difference from having a set of blues to a set of epics during the entire leveling process (probably sans Shadowlands until they get enabled for it later on) is definitely noteable

Just an FYI, as people said don’t waste the gold since the XP is being taken from us. Instead use a fraction of that gold and find people selling lvl 110 to 120 freehold power leveling, it usually costs 5k gold and takes less than an hour to finish if you want fast leveling or take your time and do it for free since we have nothing to do until prepatch.

Yes, but he is clearly buying them for the level range and experience boost. He specifically wants to reach 120 asap. With the 100% xp boost in place until pre-patch, 110-120 is like 3 to 4 hours… totally not worth 50-60k gold

True for that, he did ask about using them for other characters of the same armor type though

1> The unupgraded gear will be common quality, the fully upgraded stuff will be epic quality.
2> epic kills faster and dies less than common quality geared people, so faster xp per minute
3> epic quality heirloom people will not have to stop at the AH to upgrade gear until they hit level cap, so more time and some gold saved
4> Shadowlands adding purchasable heirloom enchantments and sockets…

5> The heirlooms all still have XP buffs right now and OP can probably get a few extra toons to level cap before SL prepatch. SL prepatch in Q4 which is October-December timeframe.

6> upgrading just one set is stupid cheap with the amount of gold a level cap toon or two can get, or bunch of level 15 toons doing silas quest, or 1 $20 wow token. (Oh look, there’s a level cap toon free with shadowlands purchase ready to do emissaries and WQs. And OP can roll a level 98 demon hunter on that server with that level cap toon to have 2 high level gold farmers.)

Ah well, negative nannies. My alts will be rolling around in epic enchanted heirloom battlesuits. Kind of suspect I’ll need to be a millionaire to get 3 sockets on them all…

A wow token costs $20 and gives 130k gold, so it’d be $10 to upgrade a full set. That last upgrade would be like 37k gold or $7 of that cost though, so probably skippable if something else they want to use the money on. So they could upgrade a set of heirlooms, have 100k in the bank.

It seems to me fully upgraded gear will still be alright in shadowlands though. It’ll be epic quality instead of rare. And totally new heirlooms would be common quality. Seems like unupgraded heirlooms would be the useless thing in shadowlands unless it’s an empty slot being filled.

An uncommon, rare, and epic quality item of the same item level are exactly the same in current wow so I fail to understand how this is a solution… unless they’re going to scale to higher item level each level as well.

Ah, don’t get me wrong… I definitely got my value out of them and they’re still useful. But the original post seemed more like he wants to 120 now to do bfa end game stuff (probably with friends).

I’d much rather people hold off on spending gold until we see exactly what is coming for heirlooms in SLs instead of buying them solely for their XP boosts right now, which is the one thing we know is going away.

Hey now, if all your toons are already level 120…

1> You have way less need of further heirloom purchases
2> You probably have so much gold collecting dust, you can use it to buy a bunch of wow tokens for your account, then cash in the wow tokens on another account in your battlenet, and use the gold to buy tons of heirlooms for accelerated levelling of 50 more toons on a new wow account!!!

I suck at bulletpoints… Anyway, if you’re into maxxing stuff, and you’re rich and have nothing else to spend money on anymore, you’ll probably be enchanting and tri-socketing all your heirlooms on this or a new account. And you can be the broken guy cheesing all the timewalking dungeons for your party.

Don’t need to do this anymore… you can sync accounts to your main bnet and it shares all my pets, mounts, toys, mogs and looms.

I bought my friends AoTC already, a brutosaur, and a year long boost in HoTS. I paid out the nose to move all my toons from the connected server too, when blizzard removed that arbritrary cap per server. Now if they’d just removed the 50 per account limit.

Why bother? They are losing the XP buff in Shadowlands…
