Need an answers on Heirlooms

Ok, I have read many articles but I am more confused. new guild so not all the bonus stuff is unlocked but bought all the heirlooms I could. I think like 40% exp boost if I wear it all. Missing legs/pants I think. but this is where I am super confused: I used a 110 boost and wanted to use heirlooms to help me level to 120…and when I make an heirloom it is like up to 65 or something. How do I get that heirloom to give me bonus experience from 110 to 120?

Thanks in advance.

There are several ways but many of them require events to be happening. The one you’ll find now is on top of the Org main gate. There is an undead vendor who sells upgrades for the armor and weapons.

And it takes it from 65 to “up to 120”? What is it called? Cant find it.

There are upgrade items you have to buy.

They get pretty expensive, so I’d suggest only doing it if you plan to level multiple characters of that item type before Shadowlands.

each thing you buy ups your heirloom to the “next expac level”. So youll need quite a few items per piece of gear if you want to get them to get you to 120. Its not cheap either.

Each "thing? Huh? and Wiggly, I did read that site earlier and still have no idea how to upgrade a lvl 65 piece. Maybe I am just dumb.

OK each level of heirloom gear requires something you buy. I called it a thing. Woo.

Buy one to get it from 60 to 70. Buy yet another to get it to 80. And so on. Each one gets progressively more expensive, and you have to do it for each item of heirloom gear you want to wear.

If you’re at the vendor it will have text on the item explaining what level it upgrades the item too.

With this for weapons:

and this for everything else:

There are multiple upgrade items for both weapons / trinkets and armor types. The first takes it from 60 to 100, the second 100 to 110, and the third to 120.

You can buy these during events or with gold. The first bump is not to bad. Think 2k each. The second is around 5k, and the third is 7.5k? Something like that.

ahhh… so it takes multiple “items” to upgrade an heirloom from 65 to say 120… thats what I wasnt getting. So if I have 5 heirloom pieces and it takes say 5 “things” to boost to lvl 120 usage, that means I need to buy 25?

To upgrade all your slots, yes. It’s a lot, and they’re changing leveling/removing the XP bonus for the next expansion…so like I said, you should probably just hold off doing it unless you’re really sure you want to drop all that gold.

I don’t think it’s a good tiem to use relics, soo ntheir bonuses will be baselined when we get shadowlands

Cheapest for the first 1-2 upgrades I think would be spamming silas stash quest on darkmoon faire with a bunch of level 15+ toons. You get 100 dmf tickets off that which I think can pay for 1 upgrade each time you do that quest. Quest only doable once per toon though.

Krom at the library in hall of explorers in iron forge sells upgrades for heirloom armor and weapons. Also I think a lady above the front gate of orgrimmar whose name I forget.

The heirloom upgrades will cost thousands and thousands of gold, so you should focus only on maybe one plate, one mail, one leather, one cloth and not try to get everything. Just whichever one set your current levelling toon needs.

You’ll see upgrade level 0/4 on heirlooms to start. The first upgrade makes them go to level 90, second to level 100, third to level 110, fourth to level 120.

Also you should be aware that after shadowlands drops and level squish happens, the heirlooms will start out at common on 0/4, then upgrades will make them go to uncommon, rare, and epic quality (?) feel like I’m missing one there… In Shadowlands you will also be able to purchase sockets and enchants to put on heirlooms in your collection. The exp buff will go out of heirlooms and just be universal for all players after SL drops too.

So, just upgrade maybe the one set you’re using to level right now. And maybe only do the upgrades as you hit level 60, 90, 100, 110 instead of doing them ahead of time. A wow token might go far upgrading one set of heirlooms.

Also I have an Alliance main on Dalaran server who’s in a guild that has all the heirloom pants unlocked. If you just roll a whatever over there you can whisper me for an invite so you can get the pants. My battle tag is SilentNight#1412 and I’m usually on between 6pm and midnight EST on weekdays.

Edit: Forgot to mention if you roll a new toon on a new server and they’re alone and poor. You can have a rich main from another server buy some battle pets off the AH for thousands of gold, then add to collection. Then have your new alt on new server open the collection, cage the pet, and sell on the AH on that server. You might plan on selling the pet for half or 2/3 the lowest price you see if you want to sell it fast. This guy I’m posting with has been trying for a week to move a Syd the Squid, but I’ve only done a 20% markdown against competitor so far.

Wow, thanks for such detailed answers… question:
Are the “upgraded” heirlooms shareable on a battlenet accountwide?

So as an example, I update 5 plate pieces on a Warrior for the 110-120… are those then useable if I level say a DK and then at 110 he can wear those same pieces without having to buy again? And if so, are the bnet login wide (WoW1/WoW2) or just account wide? Because when I buy a new heirloom and it is added to the collection, it is bnet account wide.

They’re switching from level based upgrades to quality based upgrades, so the fully upgraded ones will be epic quality level scaling stuff while the fresh ones will be common quality (maybe good for filling an empty slot on a new toon). The quality difference would translate to faster killing and more xp per minute, plus fewer stops by the AH for new gear.

But yeah, if I were in OP’s shoes, I’d only do exactly the upgrades needed on the one set my levelling toon was using. It’s still cheap compared to any kind of boost.

I don’t know about sharing between accounts, but once you upgrade an heirloom it remains upgraded for all the characters on that account.

Heirlooms go in a collections tab for them once bought, and that tab keeps track of what upgrades each one has, any character can ‘pull out’ a copy of any unlocked heirloom (even if they can’t use it) at will.

So yes if you for instance bought a full set of plate heirlooms, a weapon, necklace and cloak that were for strength, then you could pull a copy of them on any plate wearer regardless of faction, server etc…

That said I don’t know if they are full bnet account wide, the easiest way to tell would be to login to a character on another account under your bnet login and see if there are any heirlooms in the collections there that you have unlocked elsewhere

Yeah, the plate heirlooms are usable by all plate wearers - warriors, paladins, death knights. One class or spec might prefer critical strike to haste or mastery or whatever, but subtle differences like that don’t matter much when levelling. Haste trinket I think might be the best for these.

Mail is only usable by hunters and shaman I think.

Leather is only usable by rogue, demon hunter, druid.

Cloth is only usable by mage, priest, and warlock. I think headmaster’s charge staff is best for any of the clothies. And the intelligence trinket.

Other weapons and shields - I think heirloom vendors and collection window default to showing what your classes can use.

And if I forgot a class, they probably don’t matter.

Also there are 3 heirloom rings you can get off the shipyard mission table in warlords of draenor expansion. One int, one str, one agility. They’re rare missions and building up and configuring the right kind of ships for 100% success chance is a bit involved. Wowhead has directions on that though. I think I just had to kill a ghost pirate captain rare for schematics of one needed naval equipment, and the rest was standard I got from wherever. You can also get a Captain title off an achievement from shipyard missions.

:frowning:

I’m sorry this happened to you bro
