Need advice

Hello! I’ve been mingling over the idea of starting a BG character, I’ve always been a PVE dps. But after seeing some of the cool mounts BG’s get I decided to try. I’m curious which class would be a good idea to start bg with. So any help would be awesome!

You’re going to have a reasonably steep learning curve in PvP no matter which class you choose. You’re going to go into BGs and you’re going to get killed a lot. In random BGs people are going to call you a scrub. That is normal. We’ve all been there. Get over it and move forward. When you die try to consider what killed you and/or how you died. What could you have done better in that situation? Thinking like this will help you grow infinitely more than raging and blaming the game or any external factors other than yourself.

As a warrior you are already playing a good class. They have really good damage output, good mobility and connection, and some decent utility with CC and intervene. One weakness of warriors is their high reliance on being healed. This isn’t really a problem unless you’re running off trying to fight alone. If you’re in team fights, where warriors should be 100% of the time, then you’ll typically be fine.
Another good overall class in BGs is druid. Both dps specs are good, tank spec is good, healing spec is not great in BGs but also not bad. All specs have great CC for BGs, good sustain damage and very high burst potential, and great utility with CC, clone spam, and off-heals.
If you’re into healing then Disc priest would be very easy to get into. Holy is good as well, Disc is just simpler. Great healing output, good CC with fears and mind control, can also do decent damage. Shining Force knocks are also fun.

Realistically all classes can be good and fun. Some classes have a higher skill floor than others though, and those classes might be a bit less fun to someone who isn’t really familiar with PvP and how their class/role fits into the BG. But ultimately if you stick with it and focus on learning to be a better player then you can have fun regardless of the class.

THanks, Hercx! I appreciate it and yeah I’m fully aware that I’m gonna die, I’m just curious about trying to take part in that aspect of WOW cause I’ve always just been afraid of sucking, and perhaps the community about it and all. So thank ya for the advice! I really appreciate that!

We all suck at one point. We only get better by admitting that we suck and actively trying to get better over time. With regard to the community, the chat in BGs can be really hit or miss. Sometimes it is quiet, sometimes is funny, sometimes it is toxic. Don’t let the toxic chat get to you, just ignore it lol.
Also if you’re looking for a community of people to join and learn from, check out Oasis. Thousands of members, they run RBG workshops to teach people stuff, and lots of people playing together in RBGs and random BGs.

If you’re on Alliance side our guild is always welcoming new players to help improve. We’re the #1 Alliance RBG guild in NA with 5 core groups as well as numerous non-core pick-up groups on most days, and a big part of our mission is to help newer and less experienced players improve and get into games via RBG workshops, coaching, and playing with a community of players ranging from new all the way to up to numerous Hero and GM players.

Just play what you like, it can all be fun in random bgs.

If you have any friends around your level you might want to consider doing some 2s as well. You’ll likely get shoved down to a lower bracket but you’ll play people around your level more consistently to get the feel for things. Going into random BGs you have no idea who you’re going to go up against - a fresh new player or a group of multi glads that are about to knock your teeth in. Also the added bonus of gaining conquest.

Overall I’d say DH as a new pvp-er. High mobility and relatively simple key smashing sequence. You could also spec tank and become high survivability combined with that mobility.
