Darkshore was handled poorly. I think everyone agrees on that. But I get what you mean

I understand both sides in this conflict:

If Nathanos had simply been defeated as if he were 0815 NPC, it would have been said again: Horde heroes are worth nothing.

On the other hand, against the Night Warrior he would have had to be dumped like NPC 0815 - no matter how many power-ups he gets.

It’s not uncommon and not specific to WoW. Playing GW2 some years back, the forums would blow up with posts asking X character’s death, the second one of them stood up/was obnoxious/said “no” to our PC.
