You know the prepatch event isn’t active yet. He is part of that event.
OP is just trying to stir crap up. We all know he bites the dust in pre-patch v2 and Tyrande gets to land that final blow. What we don’t know, but many suspect, is if he gets a special rez from the maw because edgy waifu is all cozy with jailer dude.
So does this mean they scrapped the concept and cinematic of Tyrande killing him?
Lmao blizz, never change.
We’ll say it YET AGAIN. THE PRE EXPANSION EVENT IS NOT ACTIVE!
Nothing was scrapped. Can you just stop with the crying for 5 minutes? You’re not doing yourself any favors
Nathanos was, so why was there no loot and no cinematic that was supposed to trigger after his death?
Sometimes these things happen. If I recall correctly, Lady Vashj dropped 0 loot on her first death way back in TBC. Sometimes things go live when they shouldn’t and are in an incomplete state, and that goes for loot tables too.
No, no, no! This is clearly an attempt by Blizzard to toy with the (already unstable) emotions of a specific portion of the fanbase. Clearly …
I think its a conspiracy. /tinfoilhat
Dude it was bug. He wasn’t suppose to be there because the pre release event isn’t live. The scourge aren’t attacking, there’s no quest line sending you to ice crown, and there is no quest line asking you to kill nathanos. These things will be activated once the pre release event is launched. Nathanos isn’t even there anymore, because it was an accident that he showed up in the first place because that event isn’t supposed to be released yet
Nathanos back to the horde
Pls no. Let this simp drop and rot where ever he falls. I’m sick of this writer self-insert existing. He needs to die a simp’s death, finally realizing Sylvanas used him just like she did everyone else and never gave a single stolen F about him.
Even a fanatic NE poster
It seems like almost every week since this first part of prepatch dropped blizzard has had to go in and fix something. This is just another one of those things. We have already passed the intended original launch date with no word as to a a new one. In their hurry, things are getting missed. Video games are massive amounts of lines of code, things get overlooked or interact in unintended ways.
It is highly unlikely that anything involving his status as a world boss, the associated cinimatic, or the narrative surrounding his death in the scourge invasion has changed. Stop with the Qnon theory crap. With all that blizzard needs to get done it would make no sense to scrap something that was actually done or near done.
I cant be the only guy who just had their eyes up their eyelids or just laughed everytime i heard “HMPH SPEAKER OF THE HORDE”
Being able to shut him up is loot enough for me.
This seems like a mistake by Blizzard. They’ve obviously changed plans before, like that big gun in Azshara never getting fired. But this sounds like a fairly pivotal moment.
Thrall, Baine, Thalyrssa and Talanji would’ve either killed him or thrown him to Tyrande as a peace offering if they got their hands on him in Nazmir. So I think theres zero chance he’s going to be a Horde character again. And it’s not like he has his own army or organization so I’m unsure where also he’d go.
My money is still on Tyrande stealing the KB and then we’ll see him in SL as a boss of some sort.
Shame too. Because regardless of what most people think, I found Nathanos to one of the more interesting forsaken. They’re woefully short on memorable characters who can take over for him and sylvanas
I was expecting for him to turn on Slyvanas. They sort of set this up by him being given pause by her actions at Arathi and Teldrassil. And I thought maybe Derek might be a line in the sand because stealing a Forsaken’s free will is the highest crime in their society that even the Royal Apothecary Society finds disgusting.
They show in Dark Mirror he seems to actually care about the Forsaken. His first reaction to his upgrade is ‘Can we do this for everyone?’. And his betrayal would signal to even the most die hard banshee loyalist that she’s bad news.
But nah he’s just ride or die for Slyvanas. Which makes the end of SR hilarious when he’s actually in tears over failing her and she’s utterly indifferent to him.
i think, blizzard will bring Nathanos back to the horde
I sincerely hope not. The Horde lost a lot in BfA, but finally being free of this prettied up evil lackey (seriously, can one notable Forsaken character use the Forsaken model?) is a blessing. I can’t wait for Tyrande to blow him up.
I’m not sure how hard this is to understand. We are in pre-patch, yes, which means that activating the event just requires a series of switches to be flipped. The pre-patch event is not active, and Nathanos showed up as a bug. Because the game didn’t recognize him as being active, since the event he’s tied to isn’t turned on yet, the rewards associated with him, along with quests and cutscenes, don’t trigger when he dies.
Him being there was the same as, say, a GM spawning a raid boss at the end of PTR for funsies. You can kill it, but you’re not getting any of the loot associated with the thing, because that needs to be turned on too.
Nathanos is going to get ganked by players and Tyrande, this is just one accidental bug among dozens. Anyone saying otherwise is being either alarmist, or contrarian.
That said he’s more than likely going to show up later on in the Shadowlands, since he’ll be going to the Maw and that’s where Sylvanas has sway. Unless the cutscene shows Tyrande using Night Warrior stuff to do something gnarly to his soul that impacts this.

I hope so. Nathanos is a great character who breaks the normal goodie-two-shoes formula and keeps things interesting. He has a lot of potential if Blizzard maybe tones down his snarkiness from what is currently an 11 to like a 6 or 7.
EDIT: I know a lot of people want Nathanos to die. But think about it. Is Warcraft full of nothing but Baines and Anduins really what you want? That sounds really boring to me. I’ve been a fan of Warcraft for nearly 20 years, but if the game really does become World of Peacecraft in Shadowlands and beyond I think that may be the end of my interest in the IP sadly.
Most likely unless I witness his cadaver being cut to pieces and burnt to ashes.
