I loved the old horde when I started playing in BC.
Nathanos had an obnoxious voice, a boring design, did unimaginable crap, and is a hunter. Sorry but I hate hunters. Except the demon ones hah.
Anyway, he was the nail in the coffin for my admiration for the Horde.

Nathanos was originally a decent character. But then Danuser retconned him into his self insert, and yeah the character was garbage from that point. I hope he doesn’t come back. I’m fine with everything Danuser did being removed honestly.

I hated Nathanos during BFA. He infuriated me.
Nathanos and Tyrande are two characters whom I can never recall having a pleasant interaction with, regardless of my Characters Race, Class, or Faction.

Blizzard’s writers have a tendency to write themselves into the narrative(See Nathanos, Thrall) and it really needs to stop.
they need to start treating these characters like actual characters in a story, and stop treating them like avatars for their personal life issues.
I think Nathanos’s only real problem was overexposure. I liken him to a sour candy; his abrasiveness is something you could enjoy as an occasional treat between the normal thanks and adoration you get, but his use as a world quest talking head coupled with BFA as a whole being trash wore him thin, really fast.
I think it was a shame he was offed, but meh.
Well, with Thrall it’s slightly more understandable, since Metzen created the Warcraft universe to begin with. He never “changed” Thrall.
Nathanos was a completely different character, before Danuser wrote a story that outright changed the character to be his self insert (and the character himself recognized that he had changed). He did it so he could ship himself with Sylvanas (he was incredibly creepy). One of the most ham fisted things I’ve ever seen. Danuser is the worst writer I have ever seen that’s worked on a game.
He was definitely the worst part about questing in BFA as Horde. It isn’t that he didn’t kiss the ground at my feet (or hooves), but he was just incredibly annoying.

Same here, I hated Nathanos and Tyrande, too. I would like the Alliance to be more Anduin focused and the Horde to be more Lor’themar/Thalyssra focused. It seems like they’re moving in that direction too, hopefully.
