Name flagged for rename but no option was given

My name Cabronaviruz was flagged for rename, which idk why cause its not inappropriate at all.

I’ve had the name since start of classic, no issues. My main on retail is the same and no issues for years, so why now all of a sudden?

Anyways, so it was flagged and I entered the world to attempt to change it, however I didn’t receive a prompt to change it at all. I just entered the world as PlayerGXTBTQ.

Now I can’t whisper or anything cause my name isn’t even a real name, however my name in guild roster is the same, but when I whisper it shows up as that :joy:

Make it make sense

That is wierd, it should have prompted you to when you logged in. I would appeal, but add that this condition exists that you can’t rename either.

As far as the name, it’s inventive, but still leans too much on the pandemic in the room. It doesn’t matter really how long the character exists though, if your reported, and found to have a name that is not appropriate to the game, you will be asked to rename.

Sigh

On Whitemane alone I see some pretty degenerate names that makes you wonder how they even have an account anymore. But I guess

Ticket is up for appeal, so I guess it’s 17 days average wait time with a broken character that can’t whisper anyone

Seems Blizzard disagrees.

So report them.

Remember, Blizzard is reactive - they rely on reports.

It really does not bother me enough to subject them to something like this, it’s just a name.

You should report them. Blizzard is reactive to reports only. If you don’t report, Blizzard does not go hunting for name violations.

Probably closer to 8 or 10, it’s based oldest ticket open, not a true average.

What did the email say? It might have asked you to submit names so they could see if the name you pick is not in violation and then if they accepted the name they would change the name for you

Making a reference to a virus that has killing millions around the world, and that continues to impact lives on a daily basis may be why. I don’t believe they considered it highly inappropriate though, it looks to just be a warning.

Are you still seeing the name as this? It seems to be the original name from what I can see.

All it says was that it’s going to be renamed or has been renamed, and that is very true. It’s been renamed to PlayerGXTBTQ with no prompt to change it when entering world.

The name on the forums is the same, the name on my character unit frame is the same, in the guild roster is the same.

When I click Character info however, its PlayerGXTBTQ, and the name above my head is PlayerGXTBTQ. When I try to whisper anyone or speak it comes up as PlayerGXTBTQ and nobody can whisper me or invite me.

I can probably help fix that. Can you log out of the character for me for a moment?

That would be great. I am logged out

Alright. You are flagged now and should be prompted when you log back in.

Thank you very much! Still going to leave the appeal up but I’ll go ahead and change now anyway.

That is the best way to handle it. If the appeal is successful, they’ll revert the name. If not, then at least you won’t get in trouble again for the same thing.

Just to save yourself from further grief - if the forced name change is upheld, you may want to self-report any other characters you’ve got with that or questionable names. Once, you get a warning and a forced name change. Any future reports in the same vein would just cause increased sanctions and people have been suspended for names alone.

I seriously don’t believe you can’t find why the name was inappropriate. The first part translated means “female dog” in several Spanish speaking countries.

This is quite simply not true lol

It has several connotations. One of them is “an annoying female”, so yes it is true.

I mean, when I put the first part of that name into google translate, it comes back as <a very not appropriate word>…

Google translate tends to butcher most everything not english.

In spanish, the first part is generally used in a joking manner and nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be - cause of google lol
