With the implementation of the server groups, my understanding of how names will work is this:
On Faerlina there is a character named ‘abcdef’
On Mankrik there is a character named ‘abcdef’
Given that both those servers go to a separate realm, within the Pagle battlegroup, their name tag would look like: ‘abcdef-Nazgrim-Pagle’ and ‘abcdef-Galakras-Pagle’
So with that, you can assume that ANY name available on Faerlina or on Mankrik would THEN be available on Nazgrim / Galakras.
Bringing me to my point, names cannot be stolen. So WHY can’t I create a NEW character on one of those realms with MY character’s name, and then change to an AVAILABLE name. Nobody is stealing any names.
This whole, no new character creation thing is just dumb. If I’m being forced to transfer, I want to pick a new name.
You could steal names if you could create them on destination servers.
Sure, but if someone created abcdef-Nazgrim and abcdef-Galakras then whenever you transfered your abcdef-Faerlina and abcdef-Mankrik you’d be flagged for a namechange before logging in, because those names would already exist on the destination realms.
