They’re bringing the barbershop in with WotLK with the feature to change your gender on a whim, which was added in Shadowlands. So when does that mean we’re going to be able to change our name? A feature literally added in TBC.

Yeah, it’s pretty frustrating to think that is probably their response, or it will be pay to transfer off server, and pay to transfer back to force the change.

Players were able to change their name from October 2007, during TBC original. It would be so much nicer to be able to pay for a name change than be forced to transfer a character off the server for 3 months in order to keep a name you want.
In this instance, having to level a DK on another server so it is 70 by the time wrath launches, transfer the existing main using the name off, transfer the DK to the main’s server and then eventually transfer the (old) main back again is a pretty unreasonable expense.
I also have a couple of names of toons that were created in haste mucking around which ended up being levelled to max. I would like the opportunity to change them to reflect a bit more thought having been put into the character.
When servers are closed/merged, people are forced to name change anyway. It seems unreasonable not to able to purchase the service, when it was a purchasable service in the original version of the game.

It’s understandable to think that someone would do something that would require a name change these days with how toxic the community is (look at yourself), but it’s not the reason why. I have a preferred character name I use on my main and seeing as I am changing mains for WotLK, i’d like to keep using the name.

I support name changes. They’ll need to release names from inactive players first, though.

replying to a tweet asking about namechanges he says “yep, im pretty sure we announced that” there you go friend.
This was something i’ve seen them talk about via tweet, but I don’t think anything was “officially announced”. Right now I know there is a way to bypass it with deleting/restoring a character using 2 accounts on the same bnet. Just wish we could get any information regarding it, it seems simple enough to add, if they were able to add server transfers.
