I have had a name in WOW for years (World of Warcraft Beta 1) and it was never flagged for change. Yet 1 month into classic WOW I am required to change it? What, are all names in common usage in the English language that are not considered expletives also not allowed? Are you going to ban the entire dictionary?
You’ll want to appeal, if you believe the name change was inappropriate.

I’m sorry, Daemonbane, but I don’t think the word you used is at all common. While not an expletive, it certainly wasn’t appropriate. I am sorry that it was not reported and removed soon after you decided to use it, but that review is generated by reports made by your fellow players and sometimes they may not report it immediately, depending on your visibility and their apathy.
Considering the name you apparently held was a disease, generally associated with sexual transmission, I hope you can understand why we wouldn’t allow it. That said, if you feel the change was made in error you are welcome to submit an appeal ticket to have it reviewed. Note, this was your first such penalty, which we tend to consider an education without suspending game time.
Additionally such violations may result in game time suspension, so I would encourage using the appeal to self report the other similarly named characters, assuming you plan on ever accessing them again.
