I purchased a name change and the payment went through fine. Waited about 10 minutes and the box on the character selection screen popped up, “Your Name Change is Ready!” So I clicked “Ok” then the name for my char changed. THEN I log into the game. My name on my character unit frame and at the character selection screen is now the new name, BUT my name on the tooltip, in chat, and on my character inspect tab are the old name… Even here in the forums the name reflects the new name but the old name is the one that is showing up in the in-game chat and character inspect tab, and on the tooltip.
It has now been THREE DAYS and my name on my tooltip is still the new one, but everywhere else it is the old one… this has created HUGE problems as I cannot invite people to groups, I cant get invited to groups because they are /inv my old name. Even when I try to tell people to /inv my new name it does not work.
I really need someone at Blizzard to answer me because I can’t play the game guys. Like I’m locked out of doing group content… Please help me.

You talked to a live support representative several times? As in, not a ticket but someone who is replying to you via chat?
That’s nowhere in your initial post. What did they say?
I’m fairly certain that feature is not available in WotLK Classic. I can’t open a ticket, or even find where the live chat exists, and yes I know my way around the “Support” area.
I’ve used it somewhat recently but it appears it’s down, likely due to high ticket volumes. In that case, you’ll want to open a ticket. You could also try posting on the support forums.
No one is likely gonna see this in general unfortunately

Might be an issue with payment processing? Even if it says complete I had to wait for mine before
I have the same exact issue… if you find a fix would love to hear it!
The same thing is happening to me and at this point I can’t even get to a point in the in game support system to open a ticket. None of the options match my problem. There is no option for other and open ticket.

Same here, can’t join raids/parties in wotlk classic on the character whose name I changed
Just logged into my 2nd acct, I see the old name in game but can’t “find” them to invite to a party even right clicking on the character. Can’t /w it either

I encountered the same issue, when I opened a ticket, it was almost immediately locked with no response. I would recommend a charge back with your bank.
Same issue here. I name changed one of my alts, old name shows still on the client, but the new name shows up on /who and on character select. Dunno what’s going on.
I am having the same issue. Character Select and Profile picture show my new name and I can be whispered to using my new name. However, the name over my head and my whispered responses are all the old name. Also, when I hover over my profile bar, it also shows old name. If anyone else having the same issue finally gets it fixed, I would be curious to know how.
You guys worry too much, I name changed a toon of mine back in MoP and it did this for maybe a few days and fixed itself.
