Hello, I’ve had this name Humanity for as long as I can remember and eventually I had to add a alt code when I xfered to a new server / made new classes.
I would like to have this name with out the alt code, I looked up on armory and there is no one with the name Humanity on area 52. But when I try to make a character with that name on a52 it says unavailable.
Incorrect. Names are freed up, but it automated and based on certain criteria. Game Masters no longer manually free up names, but names are still released as per this support article -
Not sure what this means
To the OP, the best way to check a name (unless it has changed, have not logged in for a little while now) is just to add the name on the server in question to your in-game friends list. If it adds, you know a character has it. If it does not it could be the name is being used on a different faction or the name is now reserved for Blizzard use only, provided it is not a name that is restricted due to being a bad name to use in the first place.
Yes, sorry, you are correct. I was referring to the request of blizzard to free up a name. Didn’t even realize I had forgotten about the way they release names these days…
If a player wants a particular name, it is up to them to go to the server they want, and "put a name down on a character, a “bank alt” if you will.
I have a couple servers that I have friends on, that if I want to play with them on that server, I would like to have a particular name. To that, I have saved a couple names by creating characters and using those names to “reserve” it.
You can also reserve a name on a f2p/trial wow license within your battle.net account.
If you have never logged in to the f2p character holding the name, the character will not be in the armory ut the name will still come up as active.
